  1. Under 3 pounds, that sounds like a lot. but i def believe its worth it. i should have weighed mine before and after. that longer sight radius along with the aperture sight must be night and day compared to stock ak sights. plus you can add any optic you want and it will work and will be rock solid. when i bought my ultimak that kreb rail wasn't available. i might have gone with it over the ultimak if it was available back then. please post pics when u get your optic mounted.
  2. the muzzle brake is a PWS FSC47. I had that sleeve custom machined for me because nothing like that existed or at least i couldn't find one. it covers the holes left behind from removing the front sight block and indexes the muzzle device. i could see if the guy would make more if anyones interested.
  3. that is a sweet setup. what type of optic are you planning on mounting to it? i thought about getting one of those rails but one of the things that had me worried was the weight. does it make the gun feel much heavier? I have an ultimak and an aimpoint comp ml3. It is quite a noticeable weight gain on my setup. the krebs rail looks pretty beefy, how do u think it would be with an optic mounted to it?
  4. ive got an ultimak and aimpoint comp ml3 2MOA. i will let you know when i get to the range. that looks like some decent shooting using the 6MOA
  5. i believe that some company was selling the dracos with exactly what Corbin said that also had a butt stock.
  6. thats a sweet looking rifle. same grip and adapter i have on mine and its super comfortable. i too wanted a real FSGB. i had checked into krebs custom and they had what u pictured except without the threads. the only problem was the sight sat to high( the krebs rifle had a rear sight mounted to the dust cover), it was for a different diameter barrel, and they where only selling their leftovers. so i chose the easy rout and got the ace sight that i installed in minutes instead of pressing off the gas block and pressing on a FSGB if i could ever find one that worked. also when you remove your FS
  7. I believe that particular gasblock was made for short barreled rifles. the muzzle device would thread right on the end of it like you said. im not sure it would work. also the barrel has to be the right diameter to use that and the gas port has to be at the same angle. i believe those varied in different rifles but im not for sure. ace makes a gas block sight that clamps on. its blocky and not as nice looking but its easily removed and installed. no pressing off anything on the barrel. that can be allot of work. another way you can do it is remove your front sight block, cut it up and weld it
  8. looks good. I like it. my only concern is the sights sitting up so high. i saw where Chaos was making some HK style sights that sit really low for their rails. if they make a clamp on version you will have exactly what you need. also what are your plans for covering the holes left by removing the sight block? i had a "tube" machined to cover them up on my gun. it locks down using 3 allen head bolts that fit flush. even without the bolts its a really tight fit and i actually used my comp to "press" it into position. if you are interested i could see if he would be willing to make more of them.
  9. Thanks for the kind words on the finish of the rifles. i should have explained a bit more about what i have done to my rifle. theres allot of non standard stuff and one custom piece. The front sight is made by ace and it clamps on to the front sight block. so its real easy to remove. i have an aimpoint mounted to an ultimak rail. it replaces the gas tube and also clamps to the barrel of the gun. its a very low and sturdy mount. the grip is made by magpul and is mounted to an adapter that allows ar15 style grips to be use on ak's. the stock is a vltor mod stock using their own adapter tube. if
  10. I recently finished duracoating both my friend and my own rifle using magpul flat dark earth. I had done only one gun before this using duracoat. that was an 870 shotgun, the saigas were much more difficult! lots of different angles to cover. the optic mount on the side of the receiver was a real bitch to media blast and duracoat. i had sold my ar15 recently (i like ak's better ) so i had some money to play around with upgrading my rifle. my friends rifle uses all tapco furniture and has no threaded barrel. his is a very basic conversion but i think the duracoat really makes his rifle stand o
  11. Thanks, i have had a good time piecing together different parts on this rifle. I think thats what makes these things so damn fun
  12. Hi, so i thought i would share some experiences of using an ace clamp on sight block and what i did after i removed my old front sight block. I have a saiga 7.62x39. I wanted something with a bit different look so i thought of putting on an ace clamp on front sight block. I was hesitant at first, because i knew this would mean removing my stock front sight block. I wasnt sure how i was going to cover up whatever was left when i removed it. But i went ahead and bit the bullet. My rifles factory FSB was not held in by pins, instead it had 2 holes drilled into the barrel on both sides and the FSB
  13. Have you tried boresighting it? I picked up a cheap laser boresight at walmart about 3 years ago and have used it countless times. i think it was about 30 bucks. they are great to get you in the ballpark. you can sight in a scope with way fewer shots or no shots at all.
  14. Hi guys, I have been lurking around here for a while and i guess this is my first post. I love the forum and i have converted 2 saiga rifles so far. i asked this question on another forum but i didnt get any responces. i have a converted 7.62x39 saiga. I have ordered an ace clamp on front sight because my stock FSB is canted and i just like how the ace sights look anyways. i have removed the stock FSB, and im planning on threading the barrel for a muzzle brake. My question is this, when i removed the stock FSB i am left with dimples in my barrel where the FSB was crimped in i guess. How would
