  1. I saw an article dated around 2003 on Saiga 12 talking about a BHO lever that would require a slot cut into the receiver. What became of this product? I have a Vepr in 7.62x39, and the Veprs and Saigas are about as close as you can get to siblings versus Romanian/Jordanian/German/Bulgarian AKs. I would like to install a last round bolt hold open that doesn't require custom mags/followers. Do you have any leads? Thanks in advance.
  2. That's a nice micrometer you have there
  3. I went ahead and enlarged the 8 holes to 1/4" - I haven't had a chance to go to the range yet to try it out.
  4. I haven't had a chance to hit the range with my modified gas tube (even larger vent holes) because its too damn cold and MI hunters crowd the lanes with their crappy loud bolt guns that can't hit the paper at 100yd.
  5. Ah it's the Ultimak gas tube w/ vents!!
  6. The Russian POSP I handled did NOT center with the bore... I went with a BP-02 and a BSA 4x32 scope. A 40mm will BARELY clear the rear iron sight.
  7. Nope, it flies into the air. Worst case scenario is that you use BreakFree CLP to clean off the finish (safe for use on painted surfaces).
  8. I did this a few months ago (around August), but here's the full story again: I kept my original Robinson/Molot gas tube intact because I have never seen a bare gas tube like that for sale on the net, so it'd be hard to replace. I further modified my Bulgarian gas tube by enlarging all 8 holes to 1/4" in diameter vs the stock 1/8". The first thing you will notice is that the piston is kept cleaner especially at the cup/dish where its usually caked with carbon. It should be only a slight ridge of carbon near the top. I did some reading on WHY they vented the gas tubes and appare
  9. Siagalova: 800rd... single load only! I didnt want to baby it, but MI law prohibits more than 1rd in the mag at a time when shooting on state operated shooting areas. I get trigger slap only when the rifle starts to heat up and everything's working smoothly. I took a grinder with a blue aluminum oxide bit to the disconnector and trimmed some material. I didn't want to touch the trigger itself because that "raised" ridge is part of the hole that holds the disconnector spring. I hear the easy solution is to get a Tapco G2 or RSA FCG - but why is that the solution? Are their trigg
  10. How is the balance with the M4 stock? Is it too light? I was thinking about doing that on my VEPR, but it's barrel heavy if you take the rear stock off... with the Robarms stock... the balance is at the part where you insert the magazine. I was thinking about getting an A2 buttstock with the 3.5 lb lead weight insert and moving the balance point to possibly the pistol grip area.
  11. Yes what model year CVPIs are you using? The Hemi V8s look great on paper but they're not consistent in real life. There are some bugs to work out... but I think it's the Mercedes Multi-Displacement system in the Magnum that is screwing things up.
  12. The M4 stock won't be much shorter (even when fully contracted) on a Saiga/AK/RPK especially with the adapter that adds some length to it.
  13. What kind of CVPI do you have? is your dept going to the Wimpalas or the new Crapnum (supposedly the Hemi versions do 0-60 in like 8-9 seconds in real life, and run high 14/low 15s in the 1/4... while some do 13s in the 1/4....)? $975 is kinda pricey tho... I know a guy who's with a PD in NC that bought a Bushmaster M4 (thru a letter from his dept I guess) for about $600 and it came with 4 30rd LE mags and a gun case.
  14. The AR10 is way overpriced IMHO. If you think $550 for a VEPR is too expensive... I don't see how $1500+ for a 0.308" version of an AR-15 is inexpensive. Yes I know the upper and lowers are supposed to be different. Tighter/match grade perhaps? Why didn't they do that with the AR-15 lower? It's all machined anyhow. Vendors nowadays act like CNC machining is a mystical voodoo bag of tricks where you NEED to spend a sh*tload of money to get something done right. I see this trend with car parts as well. $200+ for a stupid upper intake elbow that probably cost $10 in bar stock/cast materials and
