Thanks all. I'll see what I can do about some form of compensation. This wasn't a fast turnaround time and wasn't exactly cheap.

I recently had my rifle converted to a pistol grip, and I put 5 rounds down range before the hammer pin came loose with a live round in the chamber. I've never heard of this happening with an AK. Is this something that should be easily fixed? I will say that the first 5 rounds show very nice accuracy and I should never have any extraction issues with the 20' that the casings were being launched.

I'm very happy with this rifle thus far. $305 (don't ask- they sold out at that price a while back ) plus fees for PG conversion (including BHO). I took it to the range yesterday, and ran 25 rds of Malaysian surplus ammo through a 25rd SureFire mag. No problems. I was firing slow off the bench to see how it would group. (surprisingly tight, but my eyes had trouble with the indoor lighting focusing the front sight on the sight-in target.....not a big fan of standard AK sights for "sighting in"). I removed the Tapco stock that came with conversion and installed a Vltor AK extensi

The Krebs grip is the way to go. Get into a boxer's stance and you'll see how your wrist is naturally angled.

I'm looking at a pretty slick SBR option for my Saiga 7.62x39. Will Bulgarian trunnions fit Saiga receivers? Thanks.

I found a trajectory calculator. It looks like if I'm zeroed at 25 yards, and 1.2" high at 50 yards, I'll be zeroed at 200 yards.

I prefer a +/-200 meter zero for my other calibers (.223, 5.45, and 7.62x39) and am new to the .308. I have access to a 50-yard indoor range for a quick zero. Anyone have trajectories for a 16" .308?

Thanks guys. I will forward this feedback onto them. For $180 (including the stock and grip- I supplied the G2) and a 2-week turnaround time I was happy with it. Hopefully it runs! I didn't notice much of a difference in the paint- will have to have a closer look at home.

My first Saiga was a 12 gauge, which I recently had converted by a gunsmith in Virginia. How did they do? I then picked up a .308, then a 7.62x39. Is it just me or do Saigas seem like much better quality than Arsenal Bulgaria for a lot less money??? I'm planning on getting Cobra's rail system for this, along with some Krebs sights.

I took the S308 to the range 2 weeks ago. This thing has huge potential. I'm used to a pistol grip so it was tough to pull the sporter stock back into the shoulder to reduce recoil. It was dead on at 25 yards (NO adjustment- surprising for an AK!), grouping very tightly, and at 50 yards it was a couple of inches high (indoor range). Would love to put a JPoint red-dot on a rail as my eyes have trouble with standard AK sights. But, it's good enough for govt. work.

If I weld a brake on instead of threading the barrel, what are some good options?

I got my 16" carbine yesterday at a gun show ($305) and have a couple of questions about modifications, as I'm new to the Saiga game (but not the AK world) I've ordered a VLTOR stock extension, Tapco G2 single hook, and Tapco pistol grip. I'll cannibalize a Magpul CTR stock or LMT Crane SOPMOD stock Here are my questions..... 1) I know someone locally who does the pistol grip conversion. I want to thread the barrel, and move the FSB back so that I can attach a muzzle brake. I'll rent the threading kit from Dinzag. Is this something that a qualified gunsmith should be able to do?

I saw this one at RAAC's booth at the SHOT show and damn was it slick. Feedback on the $90 Krebs ghost ring and FSB combo?

One word of caution on the UTG: be very careful how much you tighten the four screws. They can bind the gas piston pretty easily and really F things up.

A buddy has a certain Class III item with a more voracious appetitie than a Saiga .308, so the question becomes which animal I want to feed. Anyway, Saiga .308 will be here in a few weeks and I look forward to learning on this forum.

Thanks all. Fortunately I picked up some Malaysian .308 surplus ammo back before OIF, 9/11, etc so that's what I'd feed the Saiga. That said, it's hard to be lead downrange when you know you could sell it for 4X what you paid for it.

After buying a Saiga 12 and seeing how well-made it is, I've decided that I will add a Saiga rifle to the collection. I found a Saiga .308 16" NIB and have a deposit on it. I have various 7.62x39 AKs but not Russian variants. For those of you who own both calibers, how do you find the .308 in comparison? Recoil, accuracy, etc.

I found a NIB 16" Saiga .308 for $305. That seems like a really good deal and gives me some discretionary funds to play with for mods/ammo/mags. I had thought about an FAL as my "308 Battle Rifle" but the DSA Congo version I like is $1800. What originally got me interested is the look of this Krebs variant. Do the VLTOR AK extension tubes work on Saigas? Anyone try a Samson rail on a Saiga .308 yet? What would be some other worthy mods?
