  1. I have a slightly different requirement when it comes to pistol grips..... Several years ago, while in the Army, I sustained a shotgun injury to my right palm, which exited out the back of the right wrist. My hand was pretty much touching the muzzle when it discharged. It ruined my whole day. They were able to save the hand, but even with the months of reconstructive surgeries and therapy, I'm still not able to open my thumb very wide. Because of this, I have a difficult time getting my grip around pistols and pistol grips, right handed. I manage, but it's not very comfortable. I
  2. Thx guys. I might end up getting/making a muzzle device of some kind to add an extra inch or so to the barrel. At least it wouldn't have to be permanent, I don't think. Or maybe it would. I'm not sure. Sigh..... I need to move to CO or KY or TN or somewhere that doesn't have the gun laws like MI does. I hear ya Bob. I wouldn't likely shoot it folded either, but it WOULD be handy for storage and transport to have the weapon be more compact. Maybe I'll eventually go with a modified full stock attached to the ACE folding mechanism. I'm not sure how strong that would be though. Might ne
  3. I want one!!! What I would really like to see is a free floated heavy barrel 7.62 or even 300 Win Mag setup in the Kel-Tec RFB. 30-06 would do too. I'm thinking a compact long range system that's able to work left or right handed. For that matter, imagine a 50 BMG like this. Woooooo-Hoooooo!!!!! Dang! I got excited thinking about THAT one. LOL Corbin
  4. Hello all. I'm trying to find the overall length of a S12 IZ 109 when using the various folding stocks out there. I'm looking for the OAL when the stock is FOLDED. I was surprised that the search function returned nothing when I used the words "overall length", "OAL" or even just "overall". "Length" return some results, but nothing that addressed this issue. The reason I'm asking is that Michigan has a crazy law where anything less than 30" OAL has to be registered as a pistol, and requires you to go down to the police dept and get a permit to purchase. I had to do that with my Striker 12
  5. I have to say, I've never had the "inspiration" to fire anything off my forehead, but whatever. I know that somewhere I've got a picture of me skydiving with a claymore strapped to the front of my helmet. It was a training one, but still. Talk about "head banging". Regardless of whether or not there's someone holding the camera, firing at an angle into water CAN produce ricochets. I've done it, intentionally. Near my buddy's place up North there's a gravel pit that they let us shoot at. It has large backstop and a small lake in the middle. We intentionally shot into the lake and could se
  6. Hooah Patriot! He hit it on the head. Don't get me wrong though...bumpfiring can be fun and exciting. You get to make a lot of noise and feel like Rambo or whatever. Granted it's expensive, but still. Just understand that it's probably not the best solution TACTICALLY. Even with a full auto, you don't generally want to dump a mag unless you can hit what you're aiming at. Suppresion fire has its place in keeping enemy heads down while squad members flank a position, but even then, it's the Squad Automatic Weapon with its belt fed goodness that hopefully steps up to the plate. 200 rounds vs
  7. Hi guys I have the pre-ban model 951 tactical. I bought it new back in 94 just before the AWB and still haven't fired it. I bought a Liberty model years later and shot it like crazy though. The trigger had a bit more "take up" than I'd prefer, but it was reliable and accurate. Here's the M-951: I might actually look into trading this for a modded Saiga 12 or something. PM me if interested. Corbin
  8. Sounds like a cool shooting stage, Gunfixr. As a lefty, I imagine having the stock (leaning towards an ACE or maybe a SOCOM) fold to the left side might be best for me. Not sure if I'll even be using the side scope mount anyway. I was leaning towards a scout style mounted aimpoint or an eotech setup on the gas tube. I just wasn't sure how much room there was for my index finger with an ACE internal receiver block with stock folded. That's all. I've heard that the external receiver block sets some folded stocks back enough to allow the 20 rd drums to go in the gun, where the internal bl
  9. Thanks Nalioth I agree that for the most part, you should take advantage of the stock while firing. However, should the need arise to fire the weapon and it happened to be folded, I would want to be able to do so without having to unfold the stock first. That's all. Corbin
  10. Hi all. I was wondering about the left side folder too, but didn't want to start a new thread when I saw it being discussed here. The main thing I'm concerned about with the left side folder is that (as a lefty) I'll still be able to reach the trigger well enough. Many pictures I've seen of the lefty folders make it hard to tell if a left handed person could reach the trigger well or not. Anyone out there care to share your experience? I like the Krinkov style folders, even if they aren't a US made part. I'll have enough 922 compliant parts to not worry about it by then anyway. I bel
  11. Good point OldAndSlow. People often do that middle finger firing in paintball quite a bit, and it's definitely quick. While I'm not a "spray and pray" kinda guy when the shots actually need to hit what I'm aiming at, it IS fun to do just to make noise or whatever. I've never really cared for bumpfiring personally. True, you can get the weapon to fire at a faster rate than normal squeezing the trigger would do, but it's often at the cost of being able to aim well and sometimes requires you to loosly hold the firearm, which might not be the safest idea. If you're wanting shoulder ai
  12. Hi all I've used several different LL rounds over the years and none of the ones I've used would cycle in any semi I've tried (with one exception). That one was a prototype round that would probably have been lethal at close range and the semi was my Benelli M3 Super 90, which can cycle pretty light loads. I should note though, the M3 is switchable to a pump in about a second, so if it hadn't cycled (which I wasn't expected it to), I would have just "pumped it out". I'm by no means a Saiga expert, but looking at how the system works, without changing the recoil spring to a super weak on
  13. Hi all. I've looked through the threads here and couldn't find this topic, so I thought I'd ask it. Please forgive me if it's been covered somewhere else. I believe that the Saiga 12s with the threaded barrel have the muzzle device count as a foreign part as far as 922r goes. Maybe it's the actual threaded section of the muzzle or maybe it's whatever you screw onto the barrel, I'm not sure. Regardless, if I were to have an IZ 109 with the threaded barrel, then have the barrel shortened to 18", thereby removing the threaded section, would I eliminate the 14th foreign part? I belie
