  1. I've got my eyes on the Streamlight, laser light combo. Seen the TLR-2 as cheap as $225. I've got the Izhmash picatinny fore end.
  2. You think they're hard to find now, it's nothing compared to a couple months ago. I got mine in February just before the drought. Myself and most others on here will say it's definitely worth it.
  3. The newer S12's have the BHO, not the LRBHO. A forum member has a LRBHO in the works but I think last I heard some changes are on hold until the 20 round drum and the LRBHO can possibly be made to work together. There's a thread on it here in this S12 forum, Cobra 76 two's LRBHO, something like that. I've got a Surefire 30 round mag for my 7.62 Saiga and it has a LRBHO feature on the follower which is kinda nice.

    Saftey stop

I think I got it back sometime in July or August.

Tony @ Tromix did my S12, welded a little nub on the side of the receiver which you can kinda see in this photo even though that part's out of focus:
  6. Yah that's just the shotguns I guess, don't remember what mine looked like before I had it converted. On my 7.62 the selector stop is indeed part of the mag release.
  7. I'm curious what this part of the conversion process is for. Obviously it says what it says I know. I had my S12 converted by Tony (amazing job by the way, I've said it before I'll say it again). I did my own conversion recently on my new 7.62 and was wondering if this is just a S12 thing or what? Tony's welding and refinishing work is so amazing I can't tell what he did!!
  8. Oh man that is nice, it's like a cleaning kit dispenser. I could've saved myself a little shopping around had k-var mentioned that feature on their website. Glad I got it. Great stock.
  9. I have been trying to find out what the differences are internally on a full auto compared to a semi auto AK. I am just curious how full auto works. Sear? Disconnector? What's different? If I was in Iraq I'd just nab one of my fresh kill's AKs and open it up and check it out. Since I can't do that I'm here asking on the forum. Yes I know it's illegal for me to have one and all that, I just want to know what the differences are and how it works.
  10. The SAW PG only comes with the bolt, you still need to order the PG nut. Like scoutjoe says the retainer plate is awesome and comes with directions on how to install that are extremely easy. I also recommend a Dremel with cutoff wheels and the fine tipped, medium tipped, and cylinder grinding stones. A drill is also necessary with the correct size cobalt bits for drilling out the front trigger guard hole and the original FCG pins. A vice comes in handy. I bought these nice Craftsman pads for my vice at Sears, they're magnetic to help them stay on the vice. Just don't tighten the vice dow
  11. Ooh Lance you're so close, it is a Caprice. But it can't be a '89 because if you look closely you'll see it's a 2 door.
  12. Its been a long time since I've been to Eds. Do they still have a lot of cool surplus? I used to go there all the time when I lived in Everett, but not so much since I moved to Marysville. Ed's got 'em, $5.99, some more raggedy than others, desert or green. I picked one up, now the wait continues for my drum to arrive.
  13. Hmm, the little cleaning kit that comes with these Saigas might just fit right into there. I'll try when I'm home.
  14. I wish I had pics, are we talking about the same thing? I'm talking about securing the stock on the bottom using the hole that is just behind the PG, left over from removing the sporter plate. If I remember correctly the factory monte carlo stock was secured on the bottom with a tang that was part of the sporter plate.
  15. Didn't even know it had the compartment until I got it. You'd think they'd have said something on the K-Var site, it would definately help sell it to those looking for best stock for their money. I was already sold on it anyways so it was a nice surprise to see that it had a cool storage compartment. So is this odd thumb sized hole with the spring in the bottom of the compartment weilding stock designed to hold something specific? Extra ammo? Secret documents? I can't figure out why there's a spring inside the stock. The spring hinged access door is very nice.
  16. Put it on last night, had to file the sides of the end of it a bit to get it to fit comfortably but still snugly into my receiver. Drilled two holes in top and used the factory stock screws, will drill and install a third screw when I track down the right size into the old sporter plate rear rivet hole on the bottom of the receiver. Gunna shoot it this weekend, first time since post conversion. This Warsaw length feels so short but we'll see how it does at the range.
  17. The first time I field stripped a Saiga I was intimidated because I was new to guns. Recently I converted my 7.62 and one of the funnest parts about converting a Saiga is you learn what everything inside is and it's all so simple and obvious after that.
  18. Also, you'll have to cut off the rear tang to do the ACE internal block. This also is no big deal with the right cutting wheel and some filing to finish it up nicely. Some use the ACE external block which in my opinion doesn't look so good but the pro is that your receiver isn't permanently altered.
  19. If you know how to use a dremel and a drill you can do it yourself. I was intimidated at first but after I took on the task of my 7.62 I can't wait to do another. It only took me about 4 hours in my garage. A lot of guys get it done on the kitchen table. And I recommend the ACE folder with the internal block and don't forget the sling mount:
  20. I sent my first Saiga to be converted and it was shipped right back to me, no need for a FFL because there's no transfer of ownership taking place. Dinzag is the man! He sells a bullet guide, or even a bullet guide kit if you need it for Saigas that will allow the gun to accept regular AK mags. You just need to know if your gun has a round or flat trunnion. http://dinzagarms.com/saiga_762x39/x39rtk.html I'll be getting one as soon as the itch to improve my 7.62 comes around again. Probably will be sooner than I think because I've got my eyes on a 75 round drum.
  21. Yes I've moved the FCG forward and installed PG. No rear tang cutting though right?
  22. Does this K-Var stock bolt right up (just wondering about the stock not the PG or HGs)? I'm under the impression that it only has the hole that goes all the way through on the side as you can see in the pic. The factory monte carlo stock on my 7.62 is attached with two screws on the top and one on the bottom (if I remember right) so I'm guessing I'm going to have to drill a few holes? What size bit or how do you select a bit size based on what screw you've got? Is it supposed to be the same width or just a bit smaller than the screw? I'll be using the screws that hold on the factory stock
  23. The AGP 10 rounder counts as 3 parts (body, follower & baseplate).
