Why does anybody think this is a good idea?

You're already less than ideal trigger is now remote controlled, the weight balance is all wrong, and your supporting a big booming 12ga with a pair of thin plastic clam shells.

But what ever floats your boat man.

I guess sometimes you do things for different reasons. Sometimes just to see if you can.

But ...

The beauty of our mag fed shotgun is you can make it pretty short an still keep mag capacity. Just get it SBS'd and you would be good to go!

Someone set me straight. As long as you are doing your own, you just need the 200$ stamp and a cutting implement (Sorry Tony, I KNOW it's not that easy, just making a point).

And I'm sure there's tricks to get it 100% reliable (gas port work to do), maybe tinker with the springs, ???? but it's got to be easier than this route. And you end up with something much mo betta (IMO).

Kmoore,

Yes, it is that easy. You can just take a standard 19" gun, cut the barrel back to 11" and open up the gas ports a bit and it will run on high base shells.

BUT...........if you want to still shoot low base shells and/or go shorter then 11", the barrel needs to be remachined to move the gas block toward the chamber, the bolt carrier extension shortened, and shorter handguards installed.

Tony, the trick of proffessionals is to make things seem easier than they are, and the way of fools is to talk as things are easier than they are. I (hope) am neither. I can get the front handguard off ... then it gets difficult :) I'm guessing that removing the gas block to allow for drilling the ports out would stump me.

Don't underestimate the work you do or difficulty it would be for most of us ...

Having said that. Cutting the bbl was real easy. I had a 22 inch model full choke that I cut back a little at a time untill it mic'd out to be modified (cut ~3/4 inch off) That was REAL easy, I used a chop saw and a metal cutting blade ... Just wished I'd cut it straight :cryss:

One day, when the competitions slow down and I get time inbetween, I'm going to ship it to you and screw choke it. I picked up RonSwin's poly choke and think that'll be a nice little combo.

How would we do it if you SBS'd my Saiga? I assume there is ATF paperwork and a tax stamp, but does it go through an FFL on my end? Does it have to be a special kind of FFL?
