lhaines 0
I have removed the two pins, but how do you get the complete front site block off?
Cobra 76 two 2,677
Several different ways. Some press them off with a hydrolic press. I have removed them with a hammer and brass punch or hardwood block. You can heat it up with a torch to make it come off easier. It also helps to soak it good in penetrating oil. I have even heard of people using a gear puller.

My gunsmith buddy and I used a combination of all of the above; that thing was stuck on there tight! We had no interest in saving the part, so we eventually just wailed on it with a ball peen hammer and it finally came off.
dinzag 31
Those 223 FSB's are a biotch!!! By far the worst of any I've ever removed. Torch and shop press. I don't know how they got mine on, but it measured the same on the I.D. as the O.D. of the barrel. I reamed it a tad before I reinstalled. Must have been heated when they put it on. vjor 2
12 ton press, self made press plates, 10 mm socket everything comes out nice and neat in about 30 seconds no damage to barrel crown, sights or anything else, of course remover the pins first. well I guess not good enough to be on the tech section but here it is if you want to make your own press plates. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=6650 Edited October 27, 2006 by vjor
ROMAD 0
Does anybody know if the Bulgarian 74 FSB with threads that KVAR sells will fit on the S223? Its $75 for the FSB (which is highway robbery...) but I dont know how well it will fit. I'd hate to go through the hassle of ordering, shipping, waiting, testing, returning; etc to find out if it will work or not
dinzag 31
I do believe it would have to be reamed out. The Saiga 223 barrel is larger than most.
vjor 2
D is right it can be ream out, to about .594 the ak74 24 mm treats I think goes to .570 to .576, still have enough meat to be workable to .594 to be press fit on the barrel of the .223 but will take some work and fine touch to make it work with out FUBAR the FSB.
