AegisDei 2
The Sig556 is officially on sale in the US! http://www.thefiringline.com/forums/showth...043&page=
headshot 52
It is a pretty rifle, but I can think of several rifles I'd rather have for that kind of scratch, the first being a Leitner-wise AR. But if I did have enough money to wipe my ass with 5 dollar bills, I'd buy that Sig really quick!
KySoldier 2
I skimmed over it but didn't see a price. What did it end up being? I don't care much for the area around the action on that left side. Reminds me of an AR-180.

I don't care much for the area around the action on that left side. Reminds me of an AR-180. Retail is $1299. Compare that to the Bushy piston operated AR that's $999 for just the upper! Then you have to add a lower receiver, a parts kit, a pg, a stock, and you'd not have the railed forarm...oh yea, and it'd not be a Sig. Granted, it's made in the US, but I'm betting it's still designed and manufactured better than the Bushy equiv.
KySoldier 2
Yeah I kept hearing $1300. Saw people online selling them before they were even available. Not as much as I would expect being a Sig, but still not worth it yet to me. Nice rifle though. I like the piston driven system everyone's going to. Wonder what the HK 416 will sell for? KySoldier 2
No civilian models planned huh? Have to settle for a POF upper then I guess.
jimmy_stikx 0
ARES makes a piston conversion unit for carbine length gas systems for around $400 dollars, pretty much a drop in conversion from what I've read.
BlenderWizard 12
Hmmm... 60 years later, and everyone decides to learn something from the AK gas system. Smart
jimmy_stikx 0
Yeah, the ARs left a bad taste in my mouth about all gas operated rifles, until I found out about exactly how the impengement system works.
Skull 0
Whee! Another Stoner-pattern rifle.
AegisDei 2
Have y'all seen the magpul 5.56? It's a beauty too.
ndomres 0
I want to see a head to head performance comparison between a converted Saiga .223 and the Sig 556. I'd bet money that it couldn't spit out a half case of Wolf 62g steelcase w/o an FTE or FTF. There's already enough bitching on the SigForum that the 556 doesn't live up original 55x models. Most of those complaints seem to be the 'metrosexual fashion' quips.
ndomres 0
Read a couple pages in, then it gets interesting: http://sigforum.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/630601935/m/419101318
frr 1
The Masada is pretty nice looking too. Not sure which one I should get this summer (if the Masada is out by then) Have y'all seen the magpul 5.56? It's a beauty too.
