gazza 0
Hi Its been a while since I have posted here & I have a quick question for anyone. I have a Saiga 12 converted with Pistol grip and stock with Cobra sights and flash suppressor plus a large (10) mag etc. Of course I thought I would never want to part with it. However, I am moving to California and I have a feeling its still banned due to the Assault weapon law in that state. Please advise.... Thanks Gazza
csspecs 1,987
I think all semi auto shotguns are banned. I could be wrong.

MrTuffPaws 2
You poor soul. Any mag fed semiauto shotgun is banned. You will have to make the mag permanent to make the gun legal. If you did that, then you are allowed 2 evil features. Pistol grip and flash suppressor, etc.... If I where you, as in the only thing you could do other than selling the gun, is to fix the mag via a bullet button (check calguns.net) and remove the flash suppressor as a CYA sort of thing. WHITE NOISE 0
Thats what the " etc, etc.." was for so I didn't get carpal tunnel! Too many negatives to list in one post. Just ask Reginald Denny how he likes the beat down he got from " Football Williams" during the L.A. riots. That was a situation where he should have been carrying, even though Kalifornia never issues permits to ordinary subjects ,ur I mean citizens. WHITE NOISE 0
I'm not familiar with Paschelky rd. I also lived in Brownsville Oregon and it was very convienant to just head out in almost any direction to find myself a place to shoot in the woods. Now I just shoot from my deck without any obstructions, neighbors, cars or pistol packing yahoos recklessly getting in the way and ruining the fun.

GTwannabe 1
What about removing the gas piston, op rod, and tack welding a plug into the hole, thereby "permanently" converting it to pump-action?

Bill 0
Hey- I believe it was mentioned already but the 2 easiest things to do to make it 'PRK' legal are to either remove the gasblock and /tap the port hole in the block and insert a set screw thereby blocking the gas and the action cycling-turning it into a 'pump action' shottie and this way it is still fairly easy to change back to normal when possible, aside from pressing the GB on/off. The other way would be to tap the hole up by the piston area-if possible- and insert a set screw ans secure it with red or green(hardest-WILL need heat to loosen) loctite.this effectively makes it a 'single shot/pump action 'also. of course a little oil in the allen wrench hole topped by a dab of JB to cover it and black paint to cover and 'voila' looks 'officially done'- 'permanent'-- The POS 'law' states a semi auto shotgun that takes a detachable mag. Since it is no longer a semi it should be safe AND it can be shown to any nosy turds that it DOES NOT cycle as a semi. Just my $.02 but I have had to live with this crap for almost 20 years-since '89- and have had to 'pc' my firearms over the years.... But I am trying to get out of here asap-I cannot take it anymore-too many people, reverse racism, illegals, liberals, traffic, houses tooo$$$$, weather sucks, city hall sucks, you name it. MAAnew 162
This is a direct quote but it answers your question. My best advise is to not move. "You are considered to be a personal handgun importer as defined by California law. You may bring all of your otherwise California-legal firearms with you, but you must report all of your handguns to the DOJ within 60 days as required utilizing the New Resident Handgun Ownership Report. PDF logo [PDF 518 kb / 2 pg] You are not required to report rifles or shotguns. You may not bring ammunition feeding devices with a capacity greater than ten rounds, machineguns, or assault weapons into California. (PC sections 12001(n), 12072(f)(2))" http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/pubfaqs.php#20 Hi Its been a while since I have posted here & I have a quick question for anyone. gazza 0
Thanks for all your replies . I have decided not to castrate my Saiga and although California sounds less appealing as you pointed out the negatives I still intend to move... Therefore my loss is your potential gain. I have listed my baby at Gunbroker.com http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=71177517 GO GET IT !
