Scope mount question

Recommended Posts

I recently bought a new Saiga 7.62x39. I want to add a scope. M1 surplus has 2 different types of scope mounts, one bolts to the side and curves around to the top, and the other consists of a replacement dust cover with a rail attached. I'm new, so sorry for not knowing the correct terminology for these items. Any advice or opinions on which is the best way to go?

The cover mount scope won't hold a zero well, as far as "curves around to the top" it all depends on the brand

that is the basic standard from which I'm judging

The one that "Bolts to the side" it doesnt, it just goes over that bracket on your AK and locks into place... So the side mount is best for a scope.

Also, if you are interested in a red dot sight or EOTech you can get this nifty mount from Ultimak...

although im not sure which version would work on AK, you could email them

+1 on the eastwave mount.

ive got a few and have no complaints. They are excellent quality, lock up securely, and will hold zero after removal. They come from russia and are just as robust as the saiga itself. Its an excellent pairing.
