skiboatsp 111
No one talks about H&K system? No response about them in another post concerning optic's Are they worth $150.00 as an option on a new gun? Or are they mainly for looks? Thanks
E-TAC 47
No one talks about H&K system? No response about them in another post concerning optic's Are they worth $150.00 as an option on a new gun? Or are they mainly for looks? Thanks HK sights work on the S12, although there not the fastest sights they look cool. A low mounted red dot sight is the fastest. I would go with the red dot and pistol style sights on a shorty. BobAsh 582
Mainly for looks, imo...that's why I have 'em. For sight picture it's hard to beat the Krebs ghost ring sights, or a red dot like Jammer mentioned. I like the Docter best.
6500rpm 670
Matt at C&S Metall Werks used an HK front with a AR rear sight set up on his build that was probably one of the best sets of irons that I've looked through as far as add on's. As far as quick aquisition, I have to go with Bob on the Docter, I have a knock off right now on a Galil, but my next s12 going the Docter route. There are a few sources that can beef them up to help with the s12 recoil.
skiboatsp 111
Forgot to say on a 8"-12" shorty Thanks
TonyRumore 1,332
Don't forget about the XS Sight Systems rear ghost ring replacement sight for the HK rear unit. That is a top notch set-up. Tony
topmaul 42
+1 for the Krebs, Here is what I did, Eric my son was sick of that rail setup, so he wanted a new sighting system. What I did out of the goodness of my heart was put my Krebs on his gun. He has kicked my but in almost every shotgun match since. Your going to have a tough time beating the Krebs for practical fast target aquisition.

TonyRumore 1,332
They are at the bottom of this page in the Tactical section. Not the shotgun section. http://www.xssights.com/store/tactical.html
Capt. Ferguson 0
I decided not to have them put on a gun when I realized they have a 300 and 400 yard setting.....Like anyone would ever use those on a 12 gauge shotgun! Kinda pointless.
BobAsh 582
I just use the open notch.
monev 0
hey tony how much would it cost to upgrade to the xs sight systems rear ghost ring and add a front tritium insert if my gun already has the hk sights?
Capt. Ferguson 0
"I just use the open notch" Exactly, so why spend the money on a much more complicated sight you're never going to really use? It makes NO sense at all, none, other than the Walter Mitty fantasy points of "My shotgun has HK sights on it". The rear notch on the HK isn't even that great of an open sight! It's just a standard v notch pushed to the rear of the gun. Probably adequate for shotgun work but I'll take a Ghost Ring over it any day.
BobAsh 582
... why spend the money on a much more complicated sight you're never going to really use?.... The shorty's a toy, and I built it the way I like. Did you read my post above where I said the HK sight was for looks, and the ghost ring has the best sight picture? .... the Walter Mitty fantasy points of "My shotgun has HK sights on it". lol most guys who see my gun don't even recognise them. You don't need sights to make this weapon look cool...
Capt. Ferguson 0
You are certainly right about the not needing them to make it look cool! I dunno that I had read the ghost ring comment, agreed in any event!
skiboatsp 111
Man....The guys at Tromix sure got a lot of flack about H&K sight option?
BobAsh 582
It's just an option- guys, get what you want on your gun, like I did!
NoAim 0
I have then on my Shorty. V-Notch is set for most clays and close range stuff. If I turn the rear sight to the 200 yard setting, I just about get a 100 yard slug shot with it.
ndomres 0
I think they're rather useful as a backup option to a red dot sight, like the PK-AS. I'd get them for my Saiga 12, but I've had lens implant surgery on my right eye which causes some strange effects with a small rear aperture.
