Can you replace the FCG without moving it?

Recommended Posts

I think this topic was discussed recently but I can't find the thread. I already have the tapco stock that doesn't require moving the trigger group. I'm thinking of converting to use AK mags, and want to know if I can put the Tapco G2 trigger group in the rifle without moving it forward. Any good writeups on this?

thx

what stock did you get? I am looking for something a bit different than the stock... um... stock offering for my 7.62.

probably this one (or some variant): http://www.mississippiautoarms.com/index.p...products_id=119

my question in like w/ the OP: why is the FCG to drop in to stock position more expensive than the one for the converted position??

Once you add that stock, you realize that you'll have to comply with 922R. You'll need to replace at least three more parts to be compliant. Without moving the FCG, the best you'll get there is two. That means you either need another part (like using US-made magazines) or you need to replace something like the gas piston. If you don't spend the money on the FCG (which is pricey) then you really get dependent on the mags for compliance in a hurry.
