Has anyone tried one of these on a Saiga 12. The website claims that it will fit the Saiga rifles and shotguns but no further information is present. They seem to work well on AK rifles and several people sell them. Here is the website address: http://www.coloradoshootingsports.com/6.html

Although some purists will probably turn their noses up at a left side charging handle AK I think that it will make the AK a little more ergonomic therefore cutting reload times.

But, you can't mount optics via the AK rail. Plus the conventional method of charging the bolt isn't all that slow. It's an answer to a question none asked. IMO

I think that it makes the weapon far more ergonomic, I have a FAL which of course has the left side charging handle. I find it far easier and quicker to operate. Plus I don't bang up my big hands as much with speedy operation.

 

If I was a guy with time on my hands and a tool room for my use, it is the type of thing I might do myself! But if I remember correctly it is well over $200, which is near the cost of the rifle.

I'd thought about a left hand conversion, but I shoot my Saiga left handed. The charging handle in its current location works very well for me as it is.

To get around the optic problem, you mount a beryl rail on top.
