Fire control group question for convert.

Recommended Posts

Does everyone get a new fire control group because they need a different kind, Or just to comply with 922?

I have enough US made parts on my converted saiga to comply with 922 (haven't fired it yet) without getting a new control group. The old group went back in just fine, will it not work or does everyone get a new one to comply with regs?

Most people just get a new/better trigger group rather than move the factory one. I'm pretty sure most people use the G2 trigger set. That's the one I've got in my rifle. The thing feels much, much nicer than the Saiga trigger.

I have US made H&k style sights, tapco stock, tapco saw style pistol grip, Us made 74 style muzzle break/flash reducer, Us made bullet guide, Us made galil style foregrip, I manufactured my own machine cover so I could put a rail on it, The mag release broke so Thats also been replaced by a us made part.

Unfortunately, we can't just throw any old US made part on it for 922r purposes. The above parts in blue are legal 922r compliance parts. The ones in red are just nice to have :)

See this post on 922r for more info: http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=18530

I'm confused, Ten parts us made, or only ten parts foreign made, If its ten foreign made then I think I'm ok. Or does each piece of the fire control group count as a separate part?

only 10 foreign parts according to the list. check the link referenced. so far you have replaced 2 foriegn parts that actually count. you need to replace 2 more (fcg counts as 3) or use a US made mag(also counts as three)

hope that helps

I see has to have less than ten foreign, I have a trigger guard around somewhere that Is us made, for an Ak, but I can make it work that will do the trick, Thanks nalioth.

A Saiga Rifle in factory configuration has 14 parts.

A Saiga shotgun threaded for chokes has 14 parts.

A Saiga shotgun not threaded for chokes has 13 parts.

(parts on a factory config saiga are in bold)

(1) Receiver

(2) Barrels

(3) Barrel extensions

(4) Mounting blocks, trunnion (rifles only)

(5) Muzzle attachments (shotguns w/ threaded barrels only)

(6) Bolts

(7) Bolt carriers

(8) Operating rods

(9) Gas pistons

(10) Trigger housings

(11) Triggers

(12) Hammers

(13) Sears

(14) Disconnectors

(15) Buttstock

(16) Pistol grips

(17) Forearms, handguards

(18) Magazine bodies

(19) Followers

(20) Floorplates

you need to replace 4 of the ones in bold. unfortunately the trigger guard is not one of them. oh and saigas don't come with a brake so adding one does not count
