What's a Heavy Load?????????????/

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

The saiga manual should explain which is a heavy load, so all this guess work would go out the window.

Even the Escort shotgun that has the gas switch, explains which they determind is a heavy load.

Example Escort say use the gas switch for 3 inch magnums only.

Has anyone experience damage to the receiver, by using the 2 gas setting for any load under 3 inchs?????

thanks

Ummmmm, a load that is not light?

Seriously, I don't know if a definition would really matter, as no two seem to react just the same. However, many are able to take their 22" bbl shottys and run every thing (light bird and up) on the heavy setting. This is the ideal I'm guessing, but if this were the case I know I'd want to invest in a blackjack buffer, or do a routine inspection for frame battering if I shot much "heavy" stuff ( = hot 1 1/4 load or more, or full power buck/slug???)

YMMV

I would think the best thing to do is to buy several boxes of ammo and try to run it on the '1' setting. If it jams, then you need to try the '2' setting.

I have a 1911 as a carry gun, so I am used to the idea of putting hundreds of rounds through a gun with a particular round before you use it for defensive use. That's the ONLY way you will know for sure.

Hi Guys

the super target, low recoil just did not have enough power to cycle the shotgun. On gas setting 2, for lite loads.

I would never buy them again. Put through 50 rounds. Plus another 6 rounds of standard 2 3/4 hunting rounds 3.

All 6 hunting rounds cycled the saiga
