Stuart2 0
Hi guys The saiga manual should explain which is a heavy load, so all this guess work would go out the window. Even the Escort shotgun that has the gas switch, explains which they determind is a heavy load. Example Escort say use the gas switch for 3 inch magnums only. Has anyone experience damage to the receiver, by using the 2 gas setting for any load under 3 inchs????? thanks Stu Edited January 16, 2005 by Stuart2

Seriously, I don't know if a definition would really matter, as no two seem to react just the same. However, many are able to take their 22" bbl shottys and run every thing (light bird and up) on the heavy setting. This is the ideal I'm guessing, but if this were the case I know I'd want to invest in a blackjack buffer, or do a routine inspection for frame battering if I shot much "heavy" stuff ( = hot 1 1/4 load or more, or full power buck/slug???) YMMV

Stuart2 0
Heres winchester 00 buckshot but they mention it's low recoil, it's clearly not low Had problems on 1 gas settings, maybe due to the buffer I was using? Diggler 0
I would think the best thing to do is to buy several boxes of ammo and try to run it on the '1' setting. If it jams, then you need to try the '2' setting. I have a 1911 as a carry gun, so I am used to the idea of putting hundreds of rounds through a gun with a particular round before you use it for defensive use. That's the ONLY way you will know for sure.
Stuart2 0
Hi guys Will try this low recoil rounds tomorrow. I was talked into this round for some reason, good sales person at the local gun shop. Am thinking that I picked up the wrong ammo. Bvamp 604
stu: in your first pic, both rounds would cycle fine with my s12 on position 1. your second pic, if they ARE low recoil, I would use setting 2. third pic, i have no idea on.......
Stuart2 0
Just using the low recoil for the 3 gun shoot. Setting will be on 2 for the low recoil tomorrow Hunting I use 00 buckshot Stu thanks for this Edited January 21, 2005 by Stuart2
Stuart2 0
Hi Guys the super target, low recoil just did not have enough power to cycle the shotgun. On gas setting 2, for lite loads. I would never buy them again. Put through 50 rounds. Plus another 6 rounds of standard 2 3/4 hunting rounds 3. All 6 hunting rounds cycled the saiga Stu
Tomac 0
I picked up some S&B "special" slugs for cheap practice work w/my Saiga-12's and they won't cycle the action on '2'. I blame the load, not the gun for this. In the future I'll probably pick up some Wolf slugs for practice. Tomac
