Alpha Kilo 42
The one on the trigger pin went on easy, but the one for the hammer pin..... are you guys using a hitch pin on the hammer pin also? There doesn't seem to be much room between the pin and the rail. I have some e clips, but If I can get the hitch pin to work, I'd rather use that.

nalioth 405
Scootch the hammer spring against the hammer itself so you have some room to get the hitch pin in place. Having the Saiga in a vise (third hand) during this is helpful.
Alpha Kilo 42
It's not that it's the length of the hitch pins that seems to be the problem.
nalioth 405
It's not that it's the length of the hitch pins that seems to be the problem. I've got hitch pins on all my pins. The same hitch pin that works for the trigger pivot pin should work fine for the hammer pivot pin. Not sure what you mean by 'length'. Did you buy two different sized hitch pins? Alpha Kilo 42
No same size, I'll see if I can get a decent pic, be back in a few
Alpha Kilo 42
Follow the straight part to it's end and you can see where there's an edge of the rail that interferes with it going on any further, If I go the other way, the loop is too large for it to seat in that area. Alpha Kilo 42
The more I look at it, there's GOT to be a shorter size you guys are using, but that's the only ones I saw at Lowes or Home Depot that had the correct diameter wire. There's just NFW that thing fits in there any way I configure it. I'm gonna have to go look at some hardware stores.
IndyArms 10,186
I always went with E-clips...
Alpha Kilo 42
unfortunately I'll have to go out for one of those also as the package I got fits a little loose, seemed right in the store, but when I clip it on, it just seems like it pops off too easily ETA HOLY CRAP, just came up with something on my test pin, while one e clip would go on and off easily, it had plenty of room for another. I added another and together they fit very nice. That's the solution I'm going with. 2 E clips on the hammer pin. Edited November 8, 2008 by Alpha Kilo
Alpha Kilo 42
ugggggh OK my romanian test pin has a very slightly bigger diameter. When I put 2 clips on it they fit nice and tight. tight enough I'd feel comfortable with them. I put them on the Saiga pin, and they were loose. (Which makes sense, it's not like any diameters changed, I just thought the groove would be tighter.) Sooooo the 2 clips didn't work, and now I get to figure out HTF this BHO spring goes in! It's all good though, this is how you get comfortable with how everything works. \But I'm back at square one with retaining the hammer pin for now.
G O B 3,516
Use a AK wire, those hitch pins are not made for that , and if one gets loose it will ruin a good day.
Alpha Kilo 42
Yeah truth be told I'm not comfortable using those or the E clips. The question I have about using the AK retention spring is on the S12 there's no center support rivet exposed to hook around like I did on my AK (hooked the center, over the hammer and under the trigger), that's what originally made me look into other options. How's it supposed to go on the S12?
