Steelin' Ducks 1
Why is the FCG moved to the back on the Saigas? I thought it was for import reason. I'm missing something.
AgentLQ 3
It prolly facilitates the sporter condition its set up in....
nalioth 405
It is for 'sporting reasons'. The Monte Carlo "sporting" stock doesn't work very well with the trigger in the standard Kalashnikov position (unless you have 8 inch fingers).
mstranglr 9
Take the pistol grip off your AK. Now try to pull the trigger. That is why the trigger was moved back.
Steelin' Ducks 1
Then what is the deal with 922r? If i put a big mag on my saiga, non-conv, then it illegal because its a "sporting rifle". But I can buy a new AK with high cap mag and its legal?

No, it would be illegal to use a high capacity magazine because your rifle has more than 10 imported parts in it, "sporting" has nothing to do with it. You need to add 4 USA made parts to your gun to make it 922r compliant. You can thank George Bush Sr. and Bill Benett for this violation of your second ammendment rights. Steelin' Ducks 1
So if I'm understanding this right, the AKs that I see have the correct amount of compliant parts. That is what makes them legal with the hi cap mags. To where the beloved Saigas dont come compliant and we have to make them compliant in order to legally enjoy the hi cap mags. IndyArms 10,186
They are compliant in their factory configuration... but if you want to USE a hi capacity magazine, then YES... you are correct.
7.62smith 1
The AK's you find like the WASR's and the lot are already converted to be compliant; they already have the proper number of US and foreign parts in them.
