SaltPeter 6
Does anyone know if there is a Saiga armorer's course? Or even an AK armorer's course? I think it would come in handy for me to keep me out of trouble since I've modified my gun and I carry it on duty. Edited November 19, 2003 by SaltPeter
Sheik Yerbouti 0
Dude, we're talkin' AKs here. Armorer's school? Are you kidding? The Pathans were making AKs during the Russo-Afghan war by hand without electricity and from scratch. It's not like they are complex or anything. If you want to be an 'armorer', buy yourself a parts kit, get an ACE bent metal receiver blank, and build up an AK. After that, there won't be anything you don't know about AKs. In fact, get a couple of variants (you can never have enough AKs) and build them all up. Also, get a Krink kit and build yourself an SBR. The tools that will make it easy for you are a mill/drill (your garden variety Chinese import from Harbor Freight will do) and a 40 ton press. If you like rivets, a bucking bar, a BFH, and a MAPP torch are required. Most people use screws. Most everythng you need to know is on this site: ACE Arms. Everything else can be found on the AK-47.net forums. If you want a certificate, send me pictures of your project when you are done, and I'll print one up and mail it to you, for a small fee, of course. You get a Basic Kalashnikov Armorer's certificate if you assemble with screws and an Advanced Kalashnikov Armorer's certificate if you use rivets.

SaltPeter 6
I know we're talking AKs but I need a real school for a real certification. Homemade certificates probably don't do well in court.
Shooter1 0
You may have to seek help from a military armorer. Weapons courses are routine. Some civilian training facilities provide courses in basic foreign and domestic arms maintenance; although they mainly service the military for training purposes, LEO's frequently occupy the seats. Most will cater to the needs of the client.
Shooter1 0
More info for you re: armorer's schools. Both of these listed training facilities will work with you to find/conduct a class: www.blackwaterusa.com and www.Alclark.com I have had extensive training at Blackwater- excellent instructors/facilities. The former is president of the company and specializes in weapons training of all types. Although neither provides a "scheduled" course, they do cater to the needs of the professional.
