Stop for a second and think about it.

The USA is one of the CLEANEST countries on the planet. With wealth comes cleanliness, not filth.

If you want to see filth, check out Mexico and Russia.

Filth doesn't come with industry. It comes with poverty.

I do think about that. One interesting thing I've seen reading your posts is that I agree with about half of what you say. I think if we met in "real life" we'd either be friends or enemies, which is kind of weird, heh.

The USA is one of the cleanest places, but we still have companies which shit in our rivers, lakes and streams; just so they can save some money. Ever heard of DuPont?!? Do some research on those fuckers... if you haven't already.

It is true that Mexico and Russia and India and many other places do have more issues than the USA; I'd never argue against that fact. Unfortunately, the previous administration pretty much refused any international treaty to try to solve the pollution problem. Is our country the cleanest in the world? No. Should our government regulate big business per pollution controls? Fuck yeah! I'm one for govies keeping out of my personal life and allowing people to be responsible for themselves, but for stuff which will and does cause problems on a local, national AND global scale, I believe there should be extremely strict laws, which hold the people which run these companies responsible. You created a product which caused enough pollution to give 10,000 people cancer? You get a death sentence after spending ten years in federal-rape-you-in-the-ass prison.

The U.S. Government is guilty of much worse than what DuPont has done. Military munitions testing, nuclear testing, etc. have screwed much more with our environment than private business... Take a look at the closed bases like Fort Ord, or the former Nevada Test Sites. They have more heavy metals and pollution than DuPont has ever dreamed of. Ever hear about Yucca Mountain? Who made all the waste that will go there?

The danger of thinking like "it's okay to regulate" is that the government ultimately wants complete control, not regulation. This stops capitalism in that it gets so prohibitive to make a new oil refinery or a pharmaceutical lab so that it either doesn't happen due to the cost of regulation, or it happens overseas at the cost of U.S. jobs. If it doesn't happen, the cost of regulation equals doubling and sometimes tripling the cost of the end product.

When the government takes control of our nation's oil supply (likely within the next 3 years), do you really think they will care whether it is clean? No! They are the ones that want to make all of the profits from it and keep the end consumer subservient to their monopoly and $5/gallon+ prices. But at the same time, the government has no problem suing Microsoft over Anti Trust laws!

You might say that the government will become the ultimate capitalist body seeking only to maximize their profits while the private citizens (i.e. the people) become slaves to their rule and tyranny (unlike the Marxist doctrine where the people ultimately regain full democratic control of the economic functions in the shift to true communism)! Socialism and Facism have existed in our time and failed the people miserably. Communism will never be achieved despite the Socialist promises of utopia and the Great Society. There will be the poor and the Government Elite which is still a class system which is the antithesis of communism!

Environmentalism for the government is a means to seize greater power over private business! It is a means to tax the citizen on goods so the government can ultimately control supply. Don't believe me? How is it that a pack of smokes costs less than $.20 to make, yet it sells for over $5? Somebody besides the tobacco company is making the majority of that money at the cost of the poor folks who smoke in the name of their best health interests! Wait until McDonalds and Taco Bell have a 500% health tax and a Big Mac costs $15 and a taco costs $8. It is only that the government is regulating your health factors! It drives the consumer away while the government gains larger profits.

How is that any fucking different than the great evil industrial corporations like DuPont? The difference is when the government controls it, you, the consumer doesn't get an alternative choice. You have to buy what the government supplies or go without. But the good news is that the money you make will ultimately be limited and capped by the government, which further curtails your buying choices. I hope you like wearing size large shirts & pants, size 9 shoes and driving a hybrid, because that is what your regulation will ultimately get you even though YOU don't fit in any of that shit!

It baffles me that when I was 11, we beat the Socialists, and now we have fucking become them!

The reason there is global warming on mars is because of the viking missions!!!!

We did it!!!!

Well, the Vikings had missions here too.

Maybe we should blame THEM.

If they hadn't come here, maybe none of this shit would have ever happened.

Oh, wait....

If you fallow the money, the big industry polluters only get away with it, because government officials are in there pocket, or like some politicians directly profit from the regulation or lack of it. Ever notice, you can sue/prosecute the companies (not individuals/political cronies), yet can't the government officials/lawmakers. :smoke: DuPont as the earlier example has always owned politicians.
