Danny MacAskill - Amazing Bicyclist

Recommended Posts

Hey great post!:smoke:

Yeah he is amazing. I probably watched that vid ten times back when I first found it. My little sister actually sent it to me and called me an old fart...lol!

Superhawk those are also great links and pics. Scotty Cranmer rocks! Nice shots of you too! I'll have to look for some pics of me hittin the dirt and the skatepark back in the day...I'm actually working on restoring my old Hutch Pro Racer I've had since about '83...it's the third one, I broke the two before that in half, along with a Mongoose...lol. Skateparks are pretty hard on BMX bikes! I've also just started riding again lately after talking my old riding buddy out of his Diamondback "Harry Leary" Turbo. These old school classic bikes are bringing insane prices nowadays from what I hear.

Here's a few of my saved vids from youtube...this first one's a good one to sit back and watch with a six pack of your favorite cold frosty beverage and knock out a Saiga conversion. It's long, but good all the way through, with some good tunes. These guys are rad as hell!:super:

Gotta love the opening scenes...:lolol:

Some good short vids from some cool trails....this one's about a mile from my house.

Chertsey Trails :super:

These guys are good...

And if we're talkin about catching some serious air...I have to give mad props to the CONDOR!:super:

Thats cool that the 401 trails are nearby. Ive been up there a few times a couple years back when Chris Doyle still lived there.

I love the old school DB with the big plate gusset. My first bmx race I took first on one like that. Do I see Redline Flite 3pc cranks and some Araya rims.

Oh yeah baby!:smoke: All original from '83 when my buddy bought it new. Still got the original set of Comp 3's on there even.

Flight Cranks, Suntour Beartrap pedals (he kept the Hutch pedals dammit!:cryss:, he's still using them on his MTB. It's got Hutch bars, Shimano MX 1000 brakes, and PhilWood hubs, but the rest is all original DB Turbo. He just had the upgrades put on by All Star where he bought it from in Raleigh.

I was stoked that my buddy agreed to sell it to me. You won't believe how cool he was on the price too. He practically gave it to me free. Dude only charged me 60 bucks for it! Old friends and room mates are KEWL!:super:

Hell I could sell the tires off it for more than that and get new ones to boot... He even said I should put the cranks on ebay for 200 to 300 bucks and make some profit to use while restoring my hutch. I wasn't about to pull my original Profiles off the Hutch though. Now I've got the two best sets of cranks ever made IMO...besides the original Hutch cranks which look very similar to Profiles.

One thing I wish he hadn't done though, is stripped all the original black chrome finish off it. You can still see part of it on the front dropouts. That was what really made it distinguishable as a Turbo. Oh well...he wanted shiny chrome like mine so he did it anyway...lol.

Another really dumb thing he did was get rid of the A Pro trophy that Harry Leary gave him after the War Of The Stars race here in Raleigh, in '83. That would have been really nice to have with it. Harry came up to us that day while we were outside the arena doing ground tricks. He noticed Steve's bike and said he had the coolest bike there besides his...or somethin like that....and that if he won he would rather give Steve his trophy than have to fly with that big 6 foot thing all the way back to Cali. We both got his autograph then so at least I still have that. He was one of the coolest racers ever....even though he was the exact opposite on the track. Heheh...I would say he compared very well to Dale Earnhardt the INTIMIDATOR. Some called him "Scary Harry".

Anyway, it was cool to be able to score the DB with the whole story and all behind it....not to mention the value. It'll be great to putt around on but I probably won't thrash it like we used to.

Oh yeah...got jabberin and forgot to ask you if you also went to the FV trails? (Fuquay Varina)

God those jumps they have there are friggin insane!

That one's about two miles on the other side from my house.

Ran across this amazing bicyclist. This guy has an amazing sense of balance.

Enjoy,

Yakdung

That guy is ridiculous!!

Super skilled.

I wonder how much that bike weighs. It's gotta be damn light.

The riding style almost looks like an extreme form of "flatland".
