MAAnew 162
We are opening a retail store and will be hanging our rifles on slat wall behind the counter. The hooks that we have now hold the rifles in place, but the rifles rest against the wall. We are looking for hooks that will hold the guns without scratching them or the wall when they are removed. Any suggestions?

IndyArms 10,186
maybe some thin foam tubes, the type they use to slide over piping for insulation... you could buy it in long lengths, cut it with scissors to the length you need for each hook... and just slip em on the hooks... done! ( may need to use a little lube, like the way you do the foam over covering on ACE skeleton stock buffer tubes... ) Kinda like this stuff... http://www.industrialinsulation.com/polyethylene_pipe_insulation.htm Or this place has foam roller pads... something like that might be even better... depending on what sizes you can find... http://www.centurylon.com.tw/Foam_roller_pads.htm obviously theres a million places you can buy this type of stuff... Just a thought...
Vultite 57
I bet if you have hot women holding the rifles that would save on hooks and probably sell more guns (or at least have more people in store) Edited January 8, 2010 by Vultite
havok 21
A wide 2"-3" Padded bracket/hook made of wood or plastic wraped with your favorite cloth. I would use black or red crushed velvet. Using plasti dip is ghetto as fuck, That's like saying use ducttape.

DogMan 2,343
It sounds like the wall is the problem and not the hooks themselves. You might try some thin stick-on felt on the wall behind the gun.
yakdung 2,926
I agree with the method that is being used for the wall for hanging the guns. Take a look at this video and look behind Jim's back. He has been using hurricane fencing for years to display and to hang his guns. http://www.jimpruett.net/news/general/craig-and-jim.html Good luck to you and great success in your retail business.
