kdbutler 563
This is VERY cool! Judge: Seattle gun ban is illegal SEATTLE -- The law has sided with gun rights advocates who took the city of Seattle and former Mayor Greg Nickels to court over the city's gun ban. King County Superior Court Judge Catherine Shaffer on Friday ruled in favor of the plaintiffs - the Second Amendment Foundation, the Citizens' Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, Washington Arms Collectors, National Rifle Association and five individuals - and declared the city of Seattle's gun ban at public places is in direct violation of Washington state's firearm pre-emption law. In issuing the ruling, Shaffer wrote, "Seattle's Department of Parks and Recreation's Rule/Policy Number P 060-8.14 ("Firearms Rule") violates Washington law and on that basis, is null and void." The city has been ordered to remove all signage banning weapons from public areas within 30 days. H/T: Chief Joseph at KahrTalk Forums

I live in the north east now, but I lived in Idaho for a few years and I thought Washington was the most beautiful state I was ever in. Keep those java sippin', sandle wearin', bean sprout eatin' hippies at bay.

G O B 3,516
So when can we sue the political hacks that pass unconstitutional laws for the return of our wasted tax dollars? The monies should come from their salaries and retirements.
diamondback 56
I could care less about the money, if only it could be successfully prosecuted as High Treason...
DogMan 2,343
What this article may not have stated clearly enough is that (former) mayor Nichols had postulated that city property was in effect "private property" since the city owns it, and that they had a right based on that to prohibit firearms in the same way that an owner of a private business does. That was of course ridiculous and the AG told him so but he stubbornly persisted. Then he lost his re-election bid which everyone thought was a gimme. Unfortunately Seattle being, well....Seattle, his successor didn't get the hint and he persued it further. I predict he will be a one term mayor. BTW, I don't live in Seattle but with a good northerly breeze I can still smell the nauseating funk of the liberal politicians there. It smells like low tide after a big fish kill.
