termpred 3
Of all things, I was bicycle shopping today at pawn shops today and I found a Saiga 308. Of course, I had to check it out. I have an S-12 currently and don't plan on getting any more guns. However this 308 isn't a bad deal. But I do have questions. It is stock completely, unconverted without a lot of use. They want $400, which I don't think is too bad. Were there 'vodka specials' like in s-12s that I should avoid? It has wood furniture on it and doesn't have Russian American arms on the side of it or RAA, but rather EAA which I imagine is European American Arms. About how old would that make this gun? I didn't get any numbers off of it, but it had a pretty long barrel, I'd say 20" at least. What kind of information can ya'll give me bout the 308 that I wouldn't know from owning an S-12? EnzNow 14
Hey, Like you, i've had an S12 for the past year and just got a 308 last month. I've been reading and researching 308 quite a bit in that time. I think this is what ur describing http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=164958652 $400 sounds like a pretty good price to me, just look on GB. The EAA stamp is the new importer...so i guess that means that gun is pretty new because EAA has only been importing for the last 2 years or so...correct me if im wrong? I think that one has the 21.5 inch barrel. If your curious, MAA (forum sponser) has 16" 308's for $460 NIB. It might be worth a look? Check out this video...its long but has information on all imported Saigas by EAA. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q69lNr4C25U -EnzNow Edited April 14, 2010 by EnzNow

I could be wrong though. To the op, Id say go for it. 400 with no ffl transfer fee like you'll pay from an internet buy is worth it. Plus, it takes a bunch of use and abuse to hurt these things. Unless the previous owner put thousands of rounds though it Id think you're good to go. Good luck Eric Edited April 14, 2010 by towerofpower93
Rhodes1968 1,638
Pawn shops are beginning to see some firearms from people needing money and unwise enough to sell the rifle so most likely its a safe queen.
termpred 3
When I looked at it there didn't seem to be a whole lot of wear. I looked at the hammer, bolt, and rifling. Was a lil dirty, but really not too bad.

Check out this video...its long but has information on all imported Saigas by EAA. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q69lNr4C25U -EnzNow EAA was the importer from about 2001 until 2005. RAA took over in 2007. Yes - There was a drought for a little over a year and, when RAA started up, the price went up too... I paid $275 for my .308 and $285 for the S-12, out the door for my NIB, EAA's at a gun show in Noverber of '04. I wish I had bought a dozen or each!
glp70 1
I paid $500 for my slightly used .308 with 22 inch barrel 2 months ago. I had been researching and watching bidding on gunbroker for seveal months prior to that. 400 is a good buy.
G O B 3,516
Good price, EAA was the importer before RAA. Wood is good. The barells come in 16" and 20". All woddies were 20".
termpred 3
Well, I didn't buy it but my friend did. I am just not looking to get a .308....too expensive hobby. I'll stick to the other stuff I have. But he got it for $350. I was duly impressed.
