dussandr 76
Thanks Knight! Check out the laminated grip I got from Trueno! Thanks Trueno! Still needs finishing and varnish, but the color is coming right along....
Klassy Kalashnikov 1,393
Looks really nice, I like the color. What stain(s) are you using?
dussandr 76
Looks really nice, I like the color. What stain(s) are you using? Thanks! I used amber shellac after sanding a bit to reveal the red cast to the wood/adhesives.
L5K 162
Amber shellac That's what I use, and I can't say enough about how awesome it looks.

If you need one, I found cheap replacement at desert fox sales dot com.
regal 2
Lower handguard arrived today. It's like you built a Romanian AK 74. AIMR or AIMS is the model I believe. Good job. I was going to do this when J&G had the last of the 5.45 Saigas left, but ended up going with a SAR-2. Amazing how similiar we think. If I ever get a Saiga 5.45 I will get the handgaurd with the lower rail and make it my only tacitool AK. I am a big fan of vertical foregrips, somehow helps being left eye dominant. Here is my Aims-74 Sar-2, an authentic bakelite upper is on the way:

There's some awesome coloring in that lower handguard. I'm refinishing an upper HG that I got from Trueno, a member on another board. I found some uppers that match, sort of a gold/red color, but they're $35, and I'm over budget as it is..... Edited June 17, 2010 by dussandr
NSR500 2
Is that FSB from http://akpartskits.com/ ? I've never ordered from them and just want to know if they're a reliable parts dealer.
Klassy Kalashnikov 1,393
They ship fast. Be aware that the tower you are receiving from them is stripped. It will need the drum and post from your factory tower, and if you want an indexing pin you'll have to make one with a disconnector/pen spring, 5/32 drill bit and a roll pin. SAIGA-Genesis 171
They ship fast is an understatement. I ordered a FSB on Tuesday from them and a half an hour later I got the UPS shipping information... never seen someone ever ship that fast. CSS was pretty close, though. Actually, CSS was that fast when you factor in that they had to wait for my FFL to send them their info, they just don't have any FSBs.
