aagalkin 1
I'm about to convert my 5.45 Saiga and was wondering what mag I should use. The gun is perfectly 922r compliant with 4 US parts; trigger group and a skele stock. I want to put a 30 rounder on it first without putting in a BG to see how it shoots. So far I narrowed it down to a Tantal steel mag, Arsenal polymer or a Bulgy poly. Any suggestions/comments on those?
nalioth 405
Flip a coin. They're all good2go. P.S. the Arsenal poly and Bulgy poly are most likely gonna be the same thing.
aagalkin 1
Yeah, that's one of the things I was wondering about. They're both Bugly except one has the Arsenal stamp on it. Wonder if Arsenal just brands it or modifies it in some way. Otherwise, any good place to get a steel mag? I found one website but it looks somewhat sketchy.

I think they replace the follower and maybe the floorplate with their own, to increase 922r compliance.
rob-cubed 74
Go Bulgy, as you can get them cheaper than the Arsenals--and you said don't need the compliance parts. Otherwise they are the same mag. Or get some of the sanitized plums that Copes and others are selling as Bulgarian. They look like crap if painted, but shoot great and you can find them for $9 right now. A little paint stripper and you'll have an original Russian plum mag underneath, just with the arsenal marks removed.

Maybe 10-15% of them, from my experience. I have mostly surplus mags, but I also buy some brand new mags to keep loaded for home defense purposes. aagalkin 1
Alright, sounds like I'll be going Bulgy. Thanks for the input!

BuzzNectar 35
i know alot of people have been lucky with running their 5.45 saiga without bullet guide and using polymer mags, but what about the bakelite mags?i have 6 or 8 of those and was just curious if they functioned any different in the "guidless 5.45x39 saiga" as i should have a new one later this week.
