Eric86GT 0
I'd say he was blowing smoke in your direction. Sounds like he's either converting them himself, or whoever he's getting them from is converting them. As far as I know they can't be imported in pistol grip config and with the ability to accept hi-caps as per 922r. I wonder if Izhmash could legally export pistol-grip Saigas here if they installed the correct number of U.S. parts. Then again, that's probably not very feasible as they'd have to import the U.S. parts to do so in the first place. What's the name of the gun dealer you saw at Gibraltar? I've always wanted to go there for the gun shows. Edited May 1, 2005 by Eric86GT
k_dawg 0
importation of saiga's fall under a seperate restriction of imports from Russia/USSR of only allowing firearms "for sporting purposes only". Not just 922r. Kind of like arms from China [ just not as restrictive ]
Eric86GT 0
k_dawg, So with that restriction would it still be illegal for Izhmash to theoretically import non-sporting Saigas with the correct number of U.S. parts?
Bvamp 604
hes not importing them. and that isnt a bad price for the converted 150 dollar gun. id buy two.
monomonk 0
For a little more you could get a Ruger Mini 14 and put a folding pistol grip stock from Butler Creek on it. Or for less, you could get a real AK. I got a very nice Chinese AK (MAK-90) with Choate dragunov-style stock (quasi pistol grip) for $300 at a gun show. Monomonk hes not importing them. and that isnt a bad price for the converted 150 dollar gun. id buy two. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Eric86GT 0
Firearm Exchange.... I bought my Steyr M9 pistol through them. Had CDNN transfer it there. They had the cheapest transfer fee of any gun shop I could find close to Livonia. All the others wanted $40. Firearms Exchange charged $25. They seemed like a couple of good guys. I'll probably do my CCW class with them. Is the owner the Asian guy or the older Caucasian guy? It's not too hard to convert your Saiga. It seems like it'll be awhile before the new importer is up and running. I would just go ahead and convert it. Edited May 2, 2005 by Eric86GT
blue_bomber 0
Well I'm new to the AK's, but I just put one in layaway today from firearm exchange, and it looked to be converted, so I asked him and the asian guy said they just come like that, so I left it at that. It looks like its converted and it comes with a 30 round mag; I'm confused, but oh well, I like the way the gun looks.
Doerdie 0
Either it's not a Saiga or the guy is confused. When you said it has an AK foregrip I get suspicious. I don't think anyone would stamp Saiga on a Century....do you? Post a pic if you can.
