My ultumate plan is to cut mine & then to make the end of a permanently attached AK-74 style break from Dinzag make up a total length of 18.25". Shot scatters quicker, plus added maneuverability. However, if one were to do this, they may have to adjust a port size or 2 just a touch to retain optimum function. Edited August 25, 2010 by Paulyski
BobAsh 582
True....will it affect ability to fire certain types of ammo? If it designed correctly, no. If you just cut some of your barrel off, most certainly so. Short barrelled guns are additctive; they're easier to handle, louder, and kick harder and look cooler. JefFamous 6
Sorry to revive such an old thread, but i was doing a bit of research into the subject. I was curious though, if i were to shorten my fully converted 19" s12 by about 3 inches how noticeable would the additional sound and recoil be? Also, would their be any other "drawbacks" besides the for mentioned ones and the increased shot spread? Thanks, Jeff
JefFamous 6
Bump... im sure someone has some additional input? lol Edited March 27, 2012 by JefFamous
BobAsh 582
how noticeable would the additional sound and recoil be? I can't think of any real way to answer this; can you?
CLXXXVII 3
Thats a lot of extra money in a tax stamp to take off 3 inches. I couldnt imagine that the noise and recoil would be very different. I dont notice a whole lot between my 20 inch mossberg and my 18 inch remington
JefFamous 6
I wasn't aware that I needed a tax stamp to take off only 3 inches.. And as far as how noticeable, if you hear a shortened saiga 12, not necessarily 3 inches shorter exactly, would you be able to distinguish the sound, or felt recoil as opposed to a stock length? Thanks for all the great input thus far. Jeff Just checked up on it again. Your right clxxx, 18 is the shortest you can go without one.
