KC913 324
Your gunsmith has no business working on AK's if that's what he said. PM sent to you, sir.

stnls1911 55
Some of the gunsmiths around here wanted $250+ just to do a 922r conversion. All it took me was a few hours, and they would've been able to do the job quicker, but I learned all the innards, and wouldn't have done it any other way. I still can't believe he said that though, that's just bad business!! Has anyone else took a Saiga to them that you know?
NM0 586
No smiths I have contacted up in the city seem to want to wrench on AK's let alone do anything other than real basic stuff. So I'm all DYI. I cut my own using these... http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-473/SAIGA-AK47-7.62-THREADING/Detail http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-597/SAIGA-AK47-7.62-TAT/Detail http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-459/DIE-STOCK-HANDLE-SAIGA/Detail It was hard to get the threads started but once I really leaned into it...no problem.
JK-47 33
they may be lathe turning the threads, and might only be set up to do right hand thread patterns? If you do it with a die and t.a.t. it should be no problem and you wont need to break down the barrel from the action.
GregM1 241
i found a 14x1LH die on ebay for about 10$ last time i needed one. the smith may not have the proper tools also to do 14x1. i would recommend another smith also.

VaiFanatic90 360
It's not un-American at all. He's just a lazy, moronic dumbass who can't afford the correct equipment.
baraban7.62 20
i have never done this, how do you use the TAT? how do you make it stay in the barrel (not spin)?
NM0 586
Cobra 76 two's tutorial is how I got through mine. Give it a read (a few times). http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=7652 It was a PIA at first and took some patience and persistence.
