madmikes 1
Still trying to decide on what stock to use have the funds ready.Does anyone have a M4 type collapsable stocked saiga ,where you dont have to ut the tang as in the CSS conversion video. How long is the 19" barreled gun with that stock or a Magpul stock on it?Full length and collapsed? Thanks
ewoketeer 35
When I did mine I used the conversion pkg from MAA, which uses Tapco furniture. The M4 style T6 buttstock didn't require the tang to be removed. FYI
fauxknight 30
I used one from Mako Security design to go straight on an AK style stamped receiver. Put a Magpul ACS commercial stock on it. Total length with 19" threaded barrel with the Russian style muzzle brake/flash hider (adds close to 2") on it is about 39"-42". fauxknight 30
Fauxknight,is that Magpul a collapsable stock? Yes, thats why I gave the range, its about 39" all the way in. I'm not actually at the weapon, but I just measured it since it'll need a larger case than what I have available atm (mostly because of its height with the pistol grip and optics). Chowderhead72 13
I have the CAA aluminium tube with a Magpul CTR as well as the enhanced butt pad(.70) and my overall length with the uncut 19" barrel is just under 36" fully collapsed. To achieve that you will need to shave a little bit off the top of the tang so it will sit flush in the recess of the tube.

Hey Chowder, One more quick question, I cant get anything on their page to load, and all the suppliers that I know about show an error when I click on a promising link. Do you know where to get one and price? And do you need a separate grip nut? Sorry that was like 2.5-3 questions haha
fauxknight 30
I knew I recognized this thread, I commented on it months ago... Sorry that was like 2.5-3 questions haha The CSS trigger guard is also extremely heavy duty, it looks like it might be a little lighter than that Etac one, but even then I think its a bit too much on the thick side. The CSS one does not need a grip nut, comes with a shortened screw to attach your grip to the TG, though I had trouble with that one crossthreading and ended up cutting down the screw that came with my Hogue grip and was able to install it that way. TG and grip seen here, also a solid view of the mako tube with Magpul ACS stock on it mentioned above way back when this thread was started.
Goose 95
yea I actually have a page open for CSS and wanted that one, but it's sold out. I'm an aspiring gunsmith, and someday everything will be welded in place when I get the exact parts I want, but as of now I can afford one and its been too long since I used one to do that without messing up. My goal until then is to convert the S12 I got this weekend and cutting as few holes as possible. The problem is I'm excited to get to work and half the things I wanna order are out of stock hahaha I knew I recognized this thread, I commented on it months ago... The problem is I'm excited to get to work and half the things I wanna order are out of stock hahaha I was lucky enough to buy my gun in December, which gave me a few months to collect parts until the outdoor ranges were open. Still out of stock is how I ended up with the Mako tube, CSS was out of the polymer tubes the day I was ordering the last of the parts I needed, he got them in pretty much the next day, but I'm happy with how it ended up. You can always email Greg at CSS and ask him when he thinks he'll have more in, hes pretty quick to reply. You're in luck that basic S12 conversions don't require any new holes at all, just have to drill out some rivets. As mentioned all over these boards, before you do too much to the gun, make sure you've taken her to the range and are satisfied with how she handles and get yourself familiar with how she handles. That way you know what it cycles, whether you need to do any work to get it to cycle better, and you'll know if one of the mods you added negatively affects what your gun can cylce. Goose 95
yea I'm happy that it won't take much to get it to a decent stopping point till later on. And yessir, I've been stalking around the site for several months now, read up on all the horror stories and what not. I actually bought it from a gun range/store that I worked at for a few years and tried it out as soon as NICS gave me the "proceed" so no I just gotta do a tad of grinding/polishing and some converting....unfortunatly I have to do some spending as well hahaha yea I actually have a page open for CSS and wanted that one, but it's sold out. Chowderhead72 13
Thank you That would be an E-tac. Super heavy duty solid billet steel if given the choice I would buy it again. I am sorry but I think you are out of luck on the trigger guard; ETAC all but announced bankruptcy yesterday so unless you find a used one or get really lucky and find one that was overstock. A few weeks ago I helped LVshooter with his conversion and he went with the CSS version; not quite as heavy/sturdy but about as close as you are going to get. The CSS version is billet aluminum vs steel but still stronger than any of the sheet metal types.
