KC913 324
No way! Good job man. Ill have to do the same to my drums when I get it back and now ill know what to do. I forsure post up some pics. I have a few different setups for it. I have the OEM wood for arm that Im going to put on it when I get it back and for a more tactial look, I bought the kvar handguard/rail combo set when it was on sale. I like having different setups being I tend to get bored with one look after too long. I must say though, your's gives me something to look forward to. Thats just bitch'n KC, very nice!!!! Thanks. Just in case you're not aware, if you swap handguards, you will have to modify whichever handguard you decide to use to work with the front latch, unless Rifle Dynamics installs the latch differently than normal. The hole is where the spring for the front latch goes into and the groove/notch is where the pivot pin retaining clip sits. KC913 324
Just ordered Tom Cole's heavy duty piston / op rod for it from CSS. Figure I might as well beef it up for an extra 30 bucks.

Could possibly be a choice of mine depending on difficulty of install.
KC913 324
Troy told me If I shipped it to him he would install it free of charge. Ordered it last night so hopefully Tuesday I will send it to Troy. Shouldn't have any kind of issue with headspacing. It's just a new piston, not a whole new carrier. I just wanted to go ahead and get it on there, just in case. Edited September 18, 2011 by KC913
KC913 324
One more update. Just ordered a couple of Izzy S12 grips. Now I just need to get the RSB done.
shades_of_grey 1,092
She's lookin good, KC! The shape of some of my factory mags' front lugs makes sense now... the same kind of curve is there, to clear that latch.

Would have been a bitch to have to mod 15+ mags just to accommodate the front latch.
Cannibal_Abe 0
So If I decide to chop my S12's barrel down to 12.5", I shouldn't have to modify the gas ports or gas tube at all? I also have a TAC 47 Auto plug installed on the gun right now, do you guys that would make a difference for the SBS?
evlblkwpnz 3,418
CA, Seems like everyone has a different goal when it comes to their baseline testing ammo. What do you want it to run reliably on? (the weakest ammo you intend to use). What mags do you want to use? To go 12.5", you won't be forced to shorten the gas system, but you certainly can. If you don't move the gas system, it will likely need some sort of port enlargement or addition. I am a big fan and advocate of the TAC47 Autoplug, but the weapon really needs to be running tops in order to use the AP with light loads.
Cannibal_Abe 0
I plan on using only heavy loads, I would like it to reliably shoot 3" and 2 3/4" slugs. I use factory mags and 10 round AGP mags, but plan to get some drums. How short could I go without messing with the gas tube if this is all I want to put through it from now on? I have not tampered with the gas ports yet as I haven't been able to remove the gas block since one of the pins is really stubborn and won't come out. But looking into the gas tube I only see three ports. The Auto Plug took a couple minutes to tune it, but once it was set the saiga will eat up anything I feed it. Also I was curious about the paper work for the SBS, do you have to be at least 21? Sorry for all the questions! I just can't stop modifying this saiga 12, it's just too much fun! 45Bretired 19
Keep in mind TAC47 says using 3" will cause undue wear to the Auto Plug. They don't suggest it.
Cannibal_Abe 0
So should I just stick with the factory plug on setting one?
KC913 324
I use a V-Plug in mine with no complaints.
