madjack 0
Hey guys, I'm new. I'm just wondering if a Muzzle Break or a Polychoke would be a better option for my S-20. If anybody knows the pros and cons of each let me know. I would really appreciate it.
MrOneEyedBoh 14
the muzzle breaks are pretty much for looks ( some may work a tad though ) until you get into the tromix ones, like the tromix monster. The choke is going to adjust the "tightness" of the pattern. have a look at this
devrussell 1
What are the exact meanings of "effective range" and "terminal range"?
magsite20 1,664
What you’re dealing with in these terms applies to birdshot as the projectile/s and largely to hunting / breaking clays. How far you can reliably drop a bird or bust a clay is the effective range of that choke’s constriction (varies by choke with the tightening the shot pattern), roughly how far the shot will fly in total is the terminal range (more or less is a constant depending on shot size / weight and velocity). IMO while brakes may look cool, chokes do the needed job. Edited March 10, 2011 by Saiga20mags.com
devrussell 1
A belated thanks for clearing that up! Does anyone have a nifty graphic for buckshot by any chance? A choke is on my Christmas list since I'd like to blast some geese. I don't think that brakes do that much for a shotgun performance wise, although they may look cool if that is important to you. Not that there's anything wrong with that! Edited March 14, 2011 by lg_noob_star
Scott Kenny 144
I know a few guys with brakes on their shotguns, but they shoot 3-gun competition, not game. Thing is, Saigas are automatically 'open-class' guns for comp, so that's no-holds-barred raceguns!
