GeorgiaPD 408
The war on drugs failed many, many, many, many, many, many, many (breathe), many, many, many, many, many and many years ago. Sometimes it just takes awhile for people that have forgotten what it is like on the streets to realize such things.

DogMan 2,343
The war on drugs failed many, many, many, many, many, many, many (breathe), many, many, many, many, many and many years ago. Sometimes it just takes awhile for people that have forgotten what it is like on the streets to realize such things. And what's worse, now that the failure has been acknowledged in every way possible, the "war on drugs" will likely continue because it is now a machine that a lot of people want see keep running for a lot of self serving reasons. Dudethebagman 222
And what's worse, now that the failure has been acknowledged in every way possible, the "war on drugs" will likely continue because it is now a machine that a lot of people want see keep running for a lot of self serving reasons. Including the cartels and dealers who are accustomed to the profits that illegality brings.
G O B 3,516
The ONLY effective wars on drugs were the opium wars. And they were fought against the Chinese - to MAKE them buy opium from the English and the "down east" Yankee merchants! Prohibition is a fools game. It funded the '30s gangsters and made illegal alcohol of questionable quality and SAFETY pretty damn popular. Many died or went blind from the bootleg liquor. Street drugs are the same crap shoot. Hell how many cases of lung disease come from the agent orange that the DEA sprays on dope? No one knows what pesticides get sprayed on shit either, and it isn't unusual for street heroin to kill. LEGALIZE, TAX and TREAT addicts. We are spending billions to keep dopers in prison - to the point where murderers an rapists have to be let out early to make room. This may just balance the budget!
ktcm7271 999
What G O B said. Prisons filled to capacity with non-violent offenders, street wars, cops put in harms way, etc. Just like prohibition.
BuffetDestroyer 969
The majority of inner city murders (the stats they use to garner support for taking away our guns) are related to illegal drug trafficking which is how street gangs make enough money to not work day jobs and still afford Ecko clothes, illegal full auto weapons, and tricked-out Cadillacs (many get to receive government subsidies also since they don't have any reported income despite making a tax free $100,000+/year). If we take away the cash cow, then their current turf wars over who gets to sell crack, smack and weed on XYZ corner don't really matter - hence violent crime will ultimately drop as well as all the stupid petty possession charges.
saltydecimator 482
Allegedley the drug wars are why black folks hated reagan. He put lotsa people in prison for stupid possesion issues. I am all for taxing and legalization. The quote from amsterdam goes something like this "we have officially made pot boring"
