Thus far, there's the Kobra with a weaver low side mount I am looking at and A BSA red dot sight with the aforementioned weaver low side mount And a veritable antique sight from the late '70's. I have one on my S12 using the standard Kobra mount and the only complaint i have is that i've run out of elevation adjustment. Of course my preference for a HD/SD type weapon would be the Aimpoint. Living in Seattle, I'll probably head out to Stan Baker's shop and have him install a polychoke on it. I had planned to go to the range at Fort Lewis next week, but my shooting buddy suggested a huge old quarry for some destruction of jugs, old mattresses, tires, and other destroyable crap people drop there. You are aware that the tool that comes with it will allow you to loosen the center bolt and allow the dial to continue past the bottom stops? Seems like this is better described on Tantal's site or somewhere. Basically you loosen the outer ring locking ring with the two points on one end of the tool. When it's loose enough you can move the dial beyond the stops. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And you can "zero" your adjustment ring after you have adjusted the sight. For example with rifle you can then easily change sights from 100yrd to 300yrd "setting" and then back when you mark correct position (for example 100yrd adjustements) by turning dial to zero. My Bro and I usually go the one in Sultan, but we have been looking for another place that is closer to him in the south end past or around Kent where he lives. We would love to hookup and plink sometime if you are interested. Right now I am working on making some exploding targets out of left over fireworks. If you've done that you might be able to shim down on the mount? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thas what i figured but i 1) cannot find the stuff that came with my sight, which would presumably include the tool you mentioned and 2) could not figure out how to do so from the "manual" that came with it. July 13 I am going to the range when they open and come home late. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have a Kobra and I like it but I decided that for $49 I'd try a Barska 50mm 1x red dot which I mounted on one of those mounts from Belarus (the good one, not the fake). I wish it was a little brighter in bright sunlight but other than that I absolutely love it. I have a couple hundred rounds fired with it and it has stayed zeroed and works like the day I got it. I keep expecting the cheapo Barksa to fail but iso far so good. Last Sunday I shot a 2 lt. soda bottle 8 times in a row once while it was still in midair from the previous shot at about 35 - 40 yds. I've had similar results with the Kobra but those 50mm's make a huge difference. If this thing continues to hold up like it has so far I will not give a rat's ass what anyone thinks of my cheapo sight. I'll just buy another AK for my Kobra. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
