VaiFanatic90 360
I looked in the Grim Reaper, and it only makes a mention of the AMD's unique 14.5"~ (give or take) barrel, but makes no mention of it's rate of twist.
lbsrdi 1,078
Also, does anyone know the twist rate of the Draco/AIMR? I can't find anything about either the AMD or Draco.
go4tze 17
Also, does anyone know the twist rate of the Draco/AIMR? I can't find anything about either the AMD or Draco. That's infuriating, I know I've read it somewhere but I can't find it for the life of me now. People debate the usefulness of the Draco with its shorter barrel, but the increased twist reportedly makes up for it. I just can't find the numbers. K-Var sells short barrels in 7.62, you might ask them what their twist rate is.
JohnNicholasM 7
It is possible to measure it yourself using a cleaning rod with the swivel feature in the handle, not the tip. Use a tight patch wrapped on a brush, mark the rod with a marker and count the complete revolutions vs withdrawn length of rod. Do the math and you get the twist rate. John M. go4tze 17
This may be of use. There's a chart here showing the Russian versions' twist rates, including the Draco-like AK-104 SBR. No guarantees that it transposes, but it's worth a look. Seems like the only time they've increased the twist rate has been in the smaller calibers, twist on 7.62 remains untouched with shorter barrel lengths. Again, Izzy vs Romy is possibly different. [Deleted link} to AK-103 Edit: Didn't read far enough into it, turns out it was a US Saiga conversion company, so their AK-104 is just a cut-down 16" Saiga. Probably a link that wasn't allowed anyway Edited December 1, 2011 by go4tze
2ndAmendican 23
IIRC it was 1 in 9.
