  1. My experience is limited I confess, but after looking thru this thread, that is THE finest rifle i have seen posted in this forum. It is stunning! A rifle to be proud of! John
  2. "looks cheap", not "is cheap". The cast aluminum pieces seem kinda light weight compared to the cast iron monsters that some other companies make. But the aluminum is certainly strong enough to get the job done. (I think it has been only in the last several years that Lee has been making a cast iron press.)
  3. Everyone seems to agree; Lee stuff looks kinda cheap, feels kinda cheap, but works just fine all the time. Their dies are great. The "factory crimp die", which is really a full length sizing die and taper crimper combined is real nifty for pistol ammo. Improves accuracy and reliability. J.
  4. The windage on my rifle was perfect out of the box.
  5. Good Info. I've always wanted to make a holster but not too sure about the heat source. Do you think a heat gun would work or do you need something more like an oven?
  6. What he said. It would be A LOT easier to drill and tap the trunnion to mount the BG than to silver solder it on. Think about the amount of heat required to heat the trunnion plus that massive heat-sink BARREL and RECEIVER. Oh you could do it, all right, but it would ruin the rifle. There is very little force exerted on the bullet guide. That little screw will hold it just fine. John
  7. Good photos. Looks like the screw isnt screwed all the way down. Is the bullet guide kinda loose? From the looks of the screw it would be. You can see the damage to the screw head where the bolt is striking it. Maybe the hole isnt threaded all the way which would keep the screw from seating fully.
  8. I think the Mak-90 looks might fine, too.
  9. I'm surprised someone hasnt brought up double-stick tape to hold the bullet guide in. Some of that 3-M double-sided emblem tape used for autos should do the trick.
  10. That is as good as most bolt action rifles. Surprisingly good!
  11. Darn that is offensive to the eye! I sure wouldn't be pleased with such an arrangement on my rifle. You're not being picky at all.
  12. OK, so here are a couple of shots showing the guide as received, on the left, and the guide after filling back, on the right. After alteration, the mags can be fully seated without the guide interferring. These are Polish metal mags in the photos, but the original Saiga mag which had been altered to match the metal mags would not seat either nor would Tapco magazines. The thickest, or "highest" point of the guide remains the same as before alteration, but the guide did not work to give reliable feeding. I added a thin shim under the guide to increase the total thick
  13. The phone numer is on the website. They do say on the website under the terms & conditions tab that shipping & Handling is added after the final order processing is made and all shipping is via UPS ground. In otherwords, if you order over the web, then you have to complete the order before the S & H is revealed to you. Not me. I think a phone inquiry might be needed here. I am sure the charges are reasonable, but I hate doing anything "sight unseen". J.
  14. I rented a utility van one time to haul furniture several hundred miles. I checked and the van had no spare tire and no jack in it and I insisted that the rental agency put the equipment in the van or get me another one. They acted pissy like this was an unreasonable request but did scrounge up the missing items and excused themselves by saying people just stole the jacks, anyway. Geez. How can you drive around without a jack and a spare? J.
  15. I swear I am gonna fix this. just havent gotten around to it yet. weekends are awfully far apart. J.
