  1. My PSL is in need of a set of furniture like that. With an original scope this rifle is a blast to shoot. It looks like it can only be more comfortable to use.
  2. Before the parts all disappear I pieces, parts bought a PSL kit. No barrel but worst case I can use a Mosin Nagant I have in my parts. I have no idea why it was a take off it was like new. It wasn't counter bored and bullet test is solid. I was going to do this a few months ago so I started with the front trunnion then last week I got the kit from a well known company with the bolt, carrier and a bunch of other stuff. Another company or two and pieced together the whole thing. $450 invested without the PSL barrel. When it warms up I will spin the Mosin barrel down on the lathe and put it t
  3. Super nice.. I built an R guns Krink kit that came out real nice. I don't remember if the barrel came with the kit or I bought the barrel from them. My first outing was a disaster. Key holed every other round. Was going to change the barrel but tried a different crown first. Just a gamble but it fixed my whole problem. used the same surplus ammo and it worked great. My smith tried a flat style crown, not sure if 90*. Good luck with yours. its a beautiful gun.
  4. I just finished a target ar with 20" bull, the gissele trigger and all the other high end goodies. It led me to start reloading .223. I want to go long so i'm loading 77gr sierra match king bullets. I had a dented possibly Tula 5.45x39 round and pulled the bullet. Besides the FMJ the bullet looked identical with the boat tail.I believe I've read that the 5.45 round suffers from being heavy in a point where after a certain distance it tumbles. Just found it interesting that the low life cousin in the 5.45 ammo world has such a nice tip. I'm wondering if the other manufactures use the same b
  5. Awesome set up AA. I do know in any major emergency "Com is King" is one of the truest statements ever said. Reading this thread convinced me to buy a Baofeng UV-82L. I wanted to have a radio for the backpack. It came in the mail today. Its a nice little unit. New to this I am a complete brick. Aside from the bare bones instructions it comes with can you point me in the correct direction on info. that would allow me to program and operate this device. I do understand there may be licensing issues but as of now I want just to learn a new form of communication in case of a severe emergency. ma
  6. Like a lot of folks I have spent a lot of cash on stupid attachments but when it all said and done there just is no substitute for plain old practice, and repetition to increase muscle memory. The only two additions I use is a collapsible stock for winter vs summer LOP, and the ultimak rail on my AMD 65. The optics pretty much are side mount Bushnell UM25 and the Primary Arms micro. The majority of all my Saiga and other AK style arms look as they are ment to look.
  7. Id leave it alone. Looking at the pics the bayonet looks like my 50 tula. So its a mixmaster. take it apart give it a little TLC and a good bath and put it together. Learn a whole bunch by taking apart. Be careful with the pin on the back of the top hand guard. Its a PIA if IIRC.
  8. +1 I don't think you can even compare Ford to this man. The weapon he designed and built was for one reason. To protect his country. A very noble cause being an American or a commie. Henry Ford was for Henry Ford. His gifts to society were mostly for personal gain. He did not produce the model T so poor American's could have a car he did it so he could SELL his car to the masses. He worked people in his factories long hours for short pay and put them up in his houses under his scrutiny. Mr. Kalashnikov made no money for his design. He obtained prestige and honor. For a man devoted to a cause
  9. I as well wanted one for a long time. Congrats man. It sure looks intimidating. I ges the waiting and wanting make it more dear to you when you finally get one. Good luck to you and good luck to all of us that are waiting for santa to take us off the bad list..
  10. There are many ways out on the internet to get around the Press and the airbrush you can get at Harbor Freight for 10 bucks at times. The oven you could always use a peice of stove pipe and a 1 burner electric element stove thing. I put the stove pipe on top and secured it with little angle brackets. two holes at the top to run a rod through to hang the gun and a meat thermonmeter through the side to mkeasure the correct temp. Make one for less than 30 bucks and works as good as any oven..
  11. When dealing with AA-OK look at their part #s. If it has an AK in the PN it is real steel if the PN has an AS in it it is airsoft. The rude SOB on the phone told me that. Personally i would watch anything theyhave.
  12. Go for it. I picked up a Bulgarian kit and built a nice one so I wanted to see what a converted 5.45 had to offer. It didnt let me down. Bought a side mount and put a Vortex on it and it shoots awsome.
  13. Like some others here the 20rd hungarian mag. are the way to go. I picked up a bunch 2 years ago for 13 bucks. Back then it still was a little steep but its what I wanted. I wound up with about 60 like new mags . I use the tapco and promags on the range. I also have a few Yugo BHO mags that feed really well.
  14. The 7n6 works the best in my rifles. The only other ammo I have used was tula and that was total crap. New it was rusting on the plastic clips. Huck Poo.
  15. I love the SKS. Mine is a 50 Tula that I traded a Nodak Spud Econ 3 receiver romy G kit rifle. The thing came out of a crate with a bunch of others packed to the brim with cosmoline and wrapped in oil paper. The gun looked unused. Bolt face was clean and so was the end of the gas piston. little or no use. I have the 20 rd. SKS mags. for it and the gun functions flawlessly. Its a sweetheart. It was cool to see that crate of what look like brand new SKS's. All but 4 had sequential serials.
