Broncs 1
Ok I did search for this and came up with nothing all morning so I am going to go ahead and ask what is involved in getting AK mags to work in a saiga whether its 7.62x39 or 5.45x39?
haugpatr 972
I think for some guns the answer is nothing. A bullet guide is typically needed and a good idea in general.
imarangemaster 315
trim magazine catch on trigger guard enough to allow mil-surp metal to lock in (a LITTLE at a time with a file) and instal a bullet guide. See Dinzag's site for instructions on bullet guide. Whol process takes 15 minutes and can use any Military spec magazine.
gregomega 929
what ^ said. pretty much just drill and tap for a bullet guide. can be found at any of the forum vendors websites: CSS, MAA, Dinzag are just a few.

Battosaii 99
in the 5.45 i converted for a friend it needed nothing, the military mags fit with no mods and it cycles 5.45 with out a bullet guide no problems

VladTepes 160
when you tap it go really slow.. countless people have broken taps off in the gun.. just did mine.. went fairly easily..
imarangemaster 315
+1 on going slow on tap. 1/8th turn, back off, then repeat. If you break a tap off, they are inexpensive to replace and easy to remove. Just put a punch on it and whack it with a hammer. It will shatter out.
ripcuda 5
I put some pictures in this post about bullet guides in the conversion section of this forum. Might help... http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/72051-converted-but-question-about-flat-bullet-guide/page__view__findpost__p__706718 Cheers!
bigkane 2
Pro Mag has 30 round mags for the Saiga. Got mine from CTD.
imarangemaster 315
The problem with promags is the bullet guide is just a flimsy tab, and prone to breaking. I used some on a 223 Saiga and half broke within a few days. I installed a bullet guide, and used the mags that way and they worked OK. For the money, though, get TApcos instead. Sweetums 5
Dinzag has kits, but if you're itching to get it done, they say to allow 2 weeks for order processing... Carolina Shooter Supply had the kit to my door in 3 days.
