Lee C 10
How short can you cut a barrel before you have reliability issues and or must shorten the gas system on the S-12? Is there some hard data on this? I have a 19" barrel and it has four gas port's and functions very well. My target length is a 14" barrel. I am aware of the SBS legal requirement's.
sapper1371usmc 107
You can go 14" easily with the stock gas length. You will need to add to or enlarge the current ports but it will work just fine. People usually start moving the gas system back at 12" or less.
poolingmyignorance 2,191
11.5" before you have to move the gas block back..but you'd better have some big ports to start with.
sparky923 2
Even at 12.5" and with enlarged ports, mine only runs high brass. But it does RUN!
evlblkwpnz 3,418
I think I could make one run Winchester Universal in MD-20 drums at 12" with a standard gas system, factor gas regulator, factory puck, factory spring, and all while running the drum at factory spring tension. MCASgt New River 10,036
Maybe you should have started looking in the NFA section...a lot of this info is outlined there. Gunny

I have zero experience with S20s. Never even held one, lol! I have wondered about this too, but it is my understanding that they are even less reliable than the 12ga when it comes to light loads. I may be wrong though. Never seriously looked into it. Edited February 23, 2013 by evlblkwpnz
