there are more type-1s out there in the US than one would think, but the prices are super-high and most are owned by serious collectors who have no intention of selling.

 

someone was just doing a type-1 build the other week on this forum or another.. I'm scratching my head now as to where it was, but I'll find it.

 

it's funny how closely the Saiga shotgun family resembles the original receiver and trunnion design of the type-1.

They may have been replaced but, I wonder about the barrel condition in those 50 year old guns. I reread it and saw no mention.

 

Those AKs have been exposed to humidity and human sweat every moment of every day for 50 years. Absolutely amazing, to me.
