Freightman 0
I am thinking of converting at least one of my 308 Saiga's and was wondering abou the hammer doesn't it have to be modified? I have no problem with the rest of the conversion as it seems straight forward and I have built some AKM rifles with G2 FCG. I just need to know about the hammer. Thank you in advance. jtoddellis 2
If you have a grinder, modifying the hammer is no problem. On my 7.62x39 conversion I left the factory hammer in the rifle. If you do this you will need another U.S. part. I'm not sure what you could use other than maybe a gas piston, if they are the same as the 7.62x39. Or you could use U.S. hand guards. I think people here have modified RPK hand guard retainers to work with the .308.
G O B 3,516
On the wifes .410, I just ground the top and the right hand side of the hammer to look exactly like the origional and it functions perfectly. Just polish and cold blue after testing. G O B
AK-treO8 0
You can modify the existing hammer or get a Tapco single hook trigger. The hammer that comes with it works great.
