You use every inch of your quad rail.

if...you wear 5.11 anything.

I mean I can just roll my eyes as Ambrose Burnside tries to explain why Socialism would fix everything from atop his velocipede, but when someone is saying what I actually believe as some sort of fashion statement I kind of want to stab them with half of one of their vintage 35 vinyls.

ROFL patience is a learned trait. And there is nothing wrong with old vinyl. In some cases it actually sounds better if you have been wearing your hearing protection while shooting.

My only point was young or old, many are set in their ways. Nice to see a young anti-socialist

Jurassicool, maybe?

You might be tacticool if: you figure out a way to fix a bayonet to your attack hamster... Junr_m_27_.jpg

Also, the 458 SOCOM thing, does having an equally large amount of 45-70 mitigate that at all?

I've been looking for an equivalent term to mall ninja for a particular type of gun guy. Suggestions welcome

Basically he is the same thing as tacticool, but older and arrogantly stuck in the stuff that was tacticool in his youth. i.e. 1960-1985 ish. So he has the same dogmatic value for what he grew  up with as the only thing it takes to be practical and skilled with firearms. But his ideas were formed around Vietnam, "combat" B&W tv, westerns, and awful chuck norris /rambo type movies. Any skill he doesn't have isn't worth having.Any gun he doesn't own isn't worth having. Guns should come in blued, or parkerized.

If a 24 year old guy could do all the same skills and bought the types of guns he would buy, it isn't good enough. It needs to be a Pre-64 winchester and a S&W model 19 with a pinned barrel. (you filthy peasant)

You might be an __[Term]_ if:

-- You say "only use a caliber starting with the number four..."

-- you call modern striker guns "tupper ware"

-- contact to 15' and six shots is all a man needs or should practice for.

-- At the same time, the only rifle skill worth valuing is 300 yards plus with 308 or 30/06

-- you automatically mispronounce foreign firearm types to show your disgust. i.e. "kalish  nikofff"

-- the phrase 'poodle shooter' is part of your vocabulary

-- the only useful shotgun is a 24" pump, and those aren't useful because they have no capacity and they are ungainly. Rifles only.

--  You own an AR or two grudgingly (because men use  M1A1), but ONLY Colt A2 configuration.

-- you proudly carry a 1911 in a Yaqui slide, safety on chamber empty.

-- You know what condition number the above is.

-- You frequently name-drop and quote Jeff Cooper [&/or Massad Ayoob] and make fun of people who learned to shoot from the magpul videos.

-- He has a bunch of quips about the glory of the 1911 ready to drop. "45 will kill your soul..." You know the rest.

-- He looks like Barry from IV888. He was Barry.

-- He owns that khaki "fishing vest" and actually thinks it makes him less conspicuous when he carries.

-- He regularly wears vietnam era camo, but will mock the guy who wears LBE at the range.

-- Guys who bought specific models because of "vidya games" are losers (don't ask why he has a 6" blued no dash Model 29 though)

Damn GunFun, I think you're describing me. Could that new term be "SOBRENEGADE"? I'm not 24, but 2 1/2 times that. I grew up during VN and watched Combat because I was in love with the Thompson, M1s and BARs. I did for some reason like Gilligan's Island (Mary Ann's Island)I don't have a Winchester pre-64, but I do have an Ithaca 49. No model 19 either, will a 66 pinned earn any points? I like to shoot calibers that start with a 4, but now prefer 3s and 2s. I've never called it "Tupperware", always been "Rubbermade" to me. Contact to 15', nah, keep them as far away as possible and when I carry, it usually is whatever my belt will hold and my shirt can cover. I admit I've used the term poodle shooter, even on this forum, but it is not regularly used, chocolate, is used more often. I grew up using my Mom's model 37 with a 28" barrel and had a 20" model 37 stolen from me. (I do love the Saigas though). Had an AR stolen also. My Yaqui slide holster has a strap on it. I don't name drop Cooper or Ayoob, I liked what they wrote and Ayoob looked like a fellow my step father knew, but he had an accent and Massad doesn't. No catchy quips about a .45, no numbers or conditions, I was taught any firearm can kill, loaded or unloaded. Barry who? I knew a Barry Goldwater (AuH2O) and went to high school with a kid named Barry. I have a khaki "hunting vest" with an attached blood proof game pouch, pinned on compass and don't wear it much any more, I might start though. I only wore the cammo because it had reinforced knees and were ripstop, it had nothing to do with my jump boots either. Don't mock anyone that wears that stuff, I did snicker at the 50+ year old, pink hair, Mohawk wearing, black urban bib overalls with high top sneakers person at Walmart this morning. Seriously, there was a woman (I think) dressed like that. That's why I remember. I always liked the Gatling gun when I played video games, centuries ago. Don't want to own one though. And finally, YES I would like a 6" model 29, dash or no dash, just not a newer one with that bullshit safety. Don't get me wrong, I like my 4", but have always been partial to longer barrels except in my single actions, 4 3/4", rules. Can I say that? Nah, I'll act my age, 4 3/4" Fucking Ayyyy. Ok, do I win? I did take the time to address this post. What's the prize?

Oh, and for the record , my favorite quote is from The Full Monty, not Jeff Cooper, Anti-wrinkle cream there may be, but anti-fat-bastard cream there is none.

In my case, it's a stainless Guide Gun with Lyman receiver sight.

Then, there's stuff like this.

Oy...

Needs more flashlights and there are still some uncovered flat areas that need some extra scope rail thingys

I love how the custom mods allow the mag to lock up in that position.

Is that for tacticool, ultra accurate, sub-MOA, prone position shooting done at 1000 yards?

Doesn't sound like you. It's all about being older tatcticool and condescending. You wear the vest hunting, not around town. You wear that stuff because you don't care about looks and think it is functional, as opposed to wearing it to show off your tactical superiority.  It's about looking down on guys for wanting the guns they enjoyed in video games while hypocritically having all your own tastes defined by movies.  It takes more than just having the tastes of an era. It's being blind to the fact that that is the only reason for your tastes and looking down on people who similarly choose the trendy stuff of their own youth.

And this is what that barry looks like. I know a few guys who could be his clone (and I like a couple of them too) : maxresdefault.jpg
