  1. So, what did you find out? I was about to order a couple myself and woud like the "latest and the greatest".
  2. Something tells me there is a reason why no one has done this yet, or at least admitted doing it. As long as you locate the holes correctly I can't see why it wouldn't work.

    Butt Pads

The Bulgarian style pad is the only one I use. Its very comfortable due to its larger surface area and it grips your shoulder very well. Best of all it fits fixed stocks, sidefolders, underfolders, and even the M1 Carbine stock. Its worth the $25.
  4. My original 23 inch barrel with standard AK butt stock is 41 1/2 inches. I'll let you do the math from there. The advertised 22" barrel is really 23", so I wonder if the advertised 19" is really 20".
  5. Plum stocked AK's look good. I've got a plum stocked 74S ready to build. Since most are pleased with the standard Saiga handguard pretty much all you see is black. I was so pleased with how a laminated butt matched the "woodtech" finish I stayed with it.
  6. You only need 4 US parts. Most go with trigger set (3) and pistol grip.
  7. Someone posted this question in their forum on AK-47.net and they said they had a couple things planned. They didn't go into any detail their either. Tapco offers some great stuff, but they have advertised a little too early on a few things. I'd rather them know for sure before they tell us too much.
  8. Just make sure the blinds are closed. And, yes, I think you are overthinking this. Just think of all the AMD-65 kits that have been built. Even with a muzzle device attached to bring it to legal length, there is still evidence that it was too short at some time in its life.
  9. You're understanding it correctly. They come "advertised" with 22 inch barrels, but as you state they are actually 23 inches in length. ATF regulations guide states in 179.11 "Meaning of Terms" ....shotgun or rifle shall be determined by measuring the distance between the muzzle and the face of the bolt...... Cut away. I'm trying to get the nerve up to do mine.
  10. Given that 18" is the bare minimum I think it makes some a little nervous getting too close to it. Why pay someone to do something you can do yourself? Some people enjoy the satisfaction of doing things themselves. I can pay someone to mow my yard, but I'd much rather do it myself.
  11. All of my posts have a "Delete" button in them. Is this feature not working either?
  12. I just typed these up. Maybe they will help a little. Saiga 12 conversion

    I WANT ONE!

I just ordered mine from CDNN a couple weeks ago. I received it two days later. Anyway, they are out of the black stock/fixed sight ($199) version. They did still have the black stock/adj. sight ($229) version when I ordered. I got the "woodtech"/fixed sight for ($199). The woodtech finish is just a painted over black stock. I'm tempted to get another to black it out. I was pleased with how well the "woodtech" matches up with real wood.
  14. I haven't stripped one, but I can only imagine they started with a standard black stock before they painted it to look like wood. Here's the address to a picture of his rifle. I didn't want to insert the picture since its hosted by another site. http://www.gunsnet.net/album/data//500/5118s11-med.JPG
