  1. I have the K-var Nato leingth stock on my S-12 and it fits me well. I have a long trigger pull 36" sleve leingth. I get a pertty good cheek weld using a low mount scope attachment with a bushnel 30mm red dot scope. on my 7.62 I have an Izmash scope mount that is higher than my red dot and I am saving my nickels and dimes for an Ace stock because they also have a cheek pad attachment to help raise my cheek pacement on the stock to make viewing through the scope more consistant and with the different buttpads and spacers and stock leingths Ace offers I can order what I need to fit the stock to
  2. My 7.62X39 out of the box shot 3" at 50 yards with my bad eyes. The S-12 unconverted 19" cylinder bore hits what I point it at ...loves clay pigons and helped our team take second place in a local rabbit derby last year but raised a few eyebrows. and is hell on porcupines at ten yards!
  3. I am using Vijors idea I have a Russian copy brake from ak-usa. I am drilling out the Saiga stock fsb for a retainer pin and spring. I will silver solder the adaptor on the fsb and post images of it when Im done in my album.
  4. This is a great topic and worthy of its own section. Anyway there is no shooting vest, safteyglasses and Remington 870 accesories that you can get for a Barbie doll. Betty Crocker publishes very few if any "game" recipies. I have never seen a My Little Pony with a rifle scabard. Its all in the way our society defines gender sterotypes. I am trying my best to expose my daughter to many outdoor activities as I can. She loves to fish, she goes camping and I have started her out with a bolt action scoped .22 cal Mossburg. She also has shown an intrest in archery. This Fall she will take a hunter
  5. My metal 30 round mag with rib on the back measures 9" top to bottom and 3-3/8" across hope this helps.
  6. Bvamp that is a really great idea about the magnet I shoot in tall grass and I think it will work great! I can get realy strong magnets at a surplus house nearby and mount it on a stick or broom handle.
  7. Verry Intresting thanks for the info. I'm going to do a search before posting another question, seens like everything you ever wanted to know about a Saiga is in this site. I also have the dents on the side of the cases from hitting the cover on the way out, but I already knew about that from you guys here. Thanks again!
  8. I shot my 7.62 x39 saiga last weekend with Wolf steel case FMJ ammo and noticed that the spent cases had a deformation around the neck of the case. I have never seen this with brass shell cases fired in the other rifles I have shot. Remingtion 30-06. pump action and a Sig-Colt 30-06. bolt action. Is this common with an autoloading millitary type action or is it the steel case ammo? Will brass casings deform also? I am thinking about reloading brass shells for the saiga and it looks like a lot of work to resize the shells. Any informatin on this would help.
  9. I really like that nice sturdy shooting bench. Looks like just a wood plank for the bench? You could get a clamp on swivel boat seat and realy dress it up!
  10. If your talking about the Bolt Hold Open lever getting in the way of removing or installing the saftey selector I had the same problem check out my photos in the members gallery on this forum. I hope this helps
  11. Looks like there's enough room on that rig to hang a small gell cell battery and an electric motor on the crank assembly, add a switch to the stock and your arm won't get sore after the first 100 rounds!
  12. From the album: Saiga 12

Because I used the Red Star retainer to replace the trigger and hammer pin retaining spring, the saftey lever must go in after the trigger is installed. I cut a notch in the saftey lever to clear the trigger/disconnector when putting the saftey lever in.
  13. From the album: Saiga 12

I had to clip the cornners of the lower front of the stock to clear the rear hole plugs on the reciever
  14. How about the usual disclaimer "For External Use Only"
  15. $25 to $35 Id buy 4 at $50 only 2 I hope you can make this happen
  16. I work In the printing press repair business and the only sheared screws or bolts that I have had to replace were because another loose or broken part sheared them off. I have replaced a lot of welded parts in light duty aplications because they failled. I bought a countersink bit and used a flathead screw on my bullet guide, and used blue locktight. If the bulletgude butts up against the face of the barrel I would think that the most shear force would be from recoil rather than the bullet sliding along the leading edge of the guide, as long as the screw is seated good and tight and held in pl
  17. Thanks for the information. I may try some higher quality factory loads first, and see how well they work before I start hand reloading. A new sporting goods store opened up near me and they have good prices on components and, a good selection of brands. I Have'nt had a good excuse to start reloading since I stopped hunting with my fathers 30-06, (hunting in shotgun only county now). But now that I own a rifle and a handgun .44 mag I think it may be worth it. Thanks again
  18. From the album: Saiga 12

I used small stainless steel screws and nuts to reattach the trigger guard in it's new location.
  19. The lever on the top is a 7.62x39 lever The bottom lever is from a Saiga-12. The red part on the saiga lever is what it looked like before I modified it. I also have a photo showing the different reciver bottoms in the picture gallery. I hope this helps
  20. Has anybody reloaded the 7.62X39 cartridge, and did it improve the shot group? was the improvement worth the extra effort? I know the AK is a spray and pray type of wepon, but Im wondering if some one had tried. I know that at todays supplus amo prices, I won't save any money. Just thinking about a few hunting rounds. Another dumb question. What is the "Ball" about in amo that is called Military Ball amunition?l
  21. From the album: Saiga 12

I wanted to make the saftey lever removable and I had to notch the BHO lever to clear the hole in the reciever when installing the saftey selector lever. I push up the BHO then insert the saftey.
  22. From the album: Saiga 12

I wanted to use a retainer for the trigger and hammer pins and make the saftey selector removeable. I had to work on the retainer, saftey selector, and bolt hold open lever to make it work.
  23. The bolt hold open lever on my Saiga-12 is different than on my 7.62x39 the 12 gauge lever holds the bolt back further than the 7.62x39 make shure it locks the bolt back far enough to clear the rim of the shell from the magazine.
  24. From the album: Saiga 12

No thumb grip nut hole in a S-12 and BHO hole is different.
