  1. Like a lot of people, I'd like a nice low-profile scope mount. Dust cover mounts are out. Can the Ultimak be modded to fit a .308 Saiga? How about taking a standard side mount and doing a "lowering" and "sectioning" job on it? Cut out a little and put it back together? Is there another mount out there that would allow cowitnessing with the irons? I guess my AR flat top just has me spoiled...
  2. Meh, personally I have no problem with the looks. But it states that it's a Russian stock, the handguard is original, and judging from the looks of the trigger, the internals are probably original, so non-compliant. I doubt RAAC is importing this configuration without anybody here knowing about it.
  3. This raises some questions: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=50766292
  4. Trade made for 1100 synthetic stock and AR stock. Thanks!
  5. Just got a new 16" .308. I got to shoot it a little yesterday. While the recoil isn't bad, there is a bit of muzzle rise. Just wondering if the amount of drop in the factory stock contributes to it. Would a conversion with a more in-line stock help? I keep waffling on whether to convert or not. (Or just buy another one and have it both ways)
  6. Got some take-off parts lying around: AR A2 stock w/spring and buffer M4 handguards w/heat shields Bushmaster AR flash hider w/lock nut Black synthetic stock for Rem 1100 Wood AK stock Century G3 stock (no hardware) Century G3 slim forend with cheapo bottom accessory rail Original wood stock & forend for Rem 1100 may add more if something else turns up, I'm pretty sure I've got a black synthetic Saiga sporter stock as well... Will trade for magazines: Mini-14 Thermold AK 30-40 round, preferably waffles (Mmmm...waffles...) AR 20-30 round G3 30-round only Saiga-12 &
  7. I see Tapco has a Galil style handguard listed for the Saiga, but they don't say if it fits all models, or which models it does fit. Anybody tried one? Does it require any mods to install? It looks like it just "clamps" to the barrel. It's a US compliance part, so I'll probably get one if it fits the .308. http://www.tapco.com/product_information.a...s&dept=93&last=
  8. Yep, we need a guinea pig. If they work, I might just have to buy a .308 I'm still kind of skeptical. If Tony Rumore gave up on them, I kind of doubt a "mere mortal" can get them to work. (7 DAY warranty?? What's up with that?)
  9. Okay, I've developed a neat little gun accessory (U.S. Patent Pending). The few people I've discussed it with (shooters, a soldier in Iraq, survival enthusiasts) agree it's a great little item. It's nothing revolutionary, but something every gun owner could use and should be standard military and LE issue. I've filed a Patent Application, so now all I need is a means to manufacture, market and distribute it, without getting ripped off. I'm not looking to get rich, but I'd like to see it become a reality. Any ideas how I should go about approaching industry with the idea?
  10. Well, it is in Texas.
  11. Yep. It doesn't take an act of Congress, judicial review, or a vote. Just the stroke of a pen.
  12. Don't they use regular AK mags and drums?
  13. The pistol is an AK pistol with Saiga furniture. I'm not up on the pertanent laws and regs, but I don't think you can legally convert a Saiga rifle to a pistol. (course I may be wrong, but I bet it ain't easy!)
  14. Wicked! So, when you gonna do a 37mm or 40mm launcher mount?
  15. Like everyone else I'm foaming at the mouth waiting for the 10rd mags to hit the market, but wasn't somebody working on +2 magazine extensions as well? Anything ever come of that?
  16. I think it's just dodge's little way of letting us know he's already bought up the first production run.
  17. I'm not looking to open up the old "will they or won't they" issue. Just wondering how it would change for the owners if it ever does happen.
  18. IF S12s are ever declared to be DDs (some say it'll never happen, some say it's just a matter of time) and their owners register them as such, would more customizing then be possible? I mean if it's a registered DD, can the barrel be shorter than 18"? Will 922 and the parts count still apply? Would owners be free to do more modification with fewer restrictions than at the present time?
  19. Might want to check out the Noveske Rifle Works' suppressors. They get high marks from a lot of the SBR guys. I've got one ordered for my Carbon 15 pistol. I'll let you know how it works if you're interested. http://www.noveskerifleworks.com/cgi-bin/c...cat1=19&cat2=23
  20. And stop calling them "clips" (sorry--pet peeve)
  21. Well, I recently got one of the new Carbon 15 pistols. As far as rapid-fire goes, it's a piece of cake. Virtually no recoil. The blast and flash are forces to be reckoned with, though. I've got a Noveske muzzle brake ordered for it that hopefully will remedy that.
  22. The site mentions adding a "tactical torch". I got all excited until I realized it was talking about a flashlight...
  23. Great! Now how's about an update from Z1500? Don't mean to sound impatient, it's just that I'm..........impatient.
