  1. Thanks vjor, I've got a FAL that I'm building that was considering doing a camo job, this makes it look do-able.
  2. Does that stuff just peel off easily or do you have to rub it off? How long did you wait to get it off after spraying?
  3. You will need to drill part way into the piston from both sides, you don't have to drill all the way thru. I couldn't budge the pin. When you screw in the new one, you shouldn't screw it in tight (till it bottoms out), that way if something is not prefect on the contact surfaces, it doesn't cant the piston. Once a new pin is in, you can just use a punch to force some of the carriers metal inward @ the hole to prevent pin movement. There's a guy on akfiles.com(and on other websites) named "hotbarrel" that makes US stamped pistons for about $15, just used one of his on my saiga conversion
  4. I thought I'd share this with you guys. On my conversion, I didn't want to weld and grind, so came up with this idea. Had some rivets from a flat that I haven't gotten to yet, but couldn't press them since I don't have a press yet. Well, I got some aluminum tube from a hobby place (they have the same stuff at smaller hardware stores)that had slightly smaller interior hole size compared to the rivets. Cut the tube to length, to fit within the reciever, filled with some JB Weld, then pressed the rivets in using a hammer (filed a slight bevel on the rivet to make starting a little easier). O
  5. Not sure if Kreb's safety is the same as K-var's. I noticed in the pics (from the same article) what seemed like a dimple coming from the inside of the reciever. Not sure what that would have been for.
  6. What did you do about the original rear sight, just remove it? I like the idea of the longer sight radius, but don't want the "hacked" look of missing parts or un-needed ones. I haven't seen a "Krebs" up close, so don't know what they did for this situation.
  7. I got mine from "hotbarrel" on akfiles forum. He does a really good job, and his price is great. I gotta do some checking, seen a pic in an ad that showed both ak-47 and ak-74 pistons, the saiga one looks more like a ak-74 which in my sick mind, makes sense.
  8. New US made gas piston is about 3/16" longer then original, anyone have any problems with this situation? I don't see any problems with using it, but just want to make sure.
  9. I saw an article where Krebs custom guns makes a safety for the left side, it's more for right handed(actually for the thumb) use, but I don't know if they offer it for retail sale, you may have to send them your rifle to get it installed.
  10. I think that Ace Ltd. USA offers some kind of adapter that could work. ACE LTD
