Per advise from a vendor here, use a soldering iron and pieces of your take off stock to build it back up.
Then go slowly.

Does the square rear sight snag on stuff?
I liked the idea of the sights, but I can't figure out why they wouldn't slope them novak style.
-
I am sure they would send you new springs for free, if only to end their embarrassment.

Yep, the panels are anyway. 05/06 Angel Speed. I originally wanted to use the OEM 05 Speed "90" grips. They look classy and feel awsome. I couldn't get my hands on any in several years of searching. (without buying a whole speed 5)These are "45" Gat grips, and not to my taste.
I made the handle at an angle that is my own but mostly followed the outline of the grips. It is currently a heavy solid chunk of 3/4" plate cut to shape with no contours.
Once I decided to drill and contour the metal itself as the grip, I had changes in life circumstances that have put the proper tools out of reach. I am just waiting to get a few minutes at a drill press and belt sander before I shed the grips altogether. In the meantime this is more comfortable.

It is finally coming together. Gotta love the people here!

Looks nice. I don't see why they don't sell that retainer with the rail already on it. It could even sit closer to line of bore.

I will definitely do this.

Nice. Why didn't I think of that. Did you even up the hole in the block first?

Obviously all of the things that feel wrong for me, may feel right for you. I do like ruger's barrel profile. It is very smooth and modern.

My dad has an SP101 that he got for me to shoot. I like the looks and craftsmanship, but it just feels clumsy in the hand. Whereas the classic Smiths feel so right and are so easy to shoot fast and accurate close or far.

Yessir. It really doesn't need any more than that. Other things are extra.

he could be compliant with a changed hammer, piston or puck.

So that's why people get mini-dracos-- there's not enough room for a whole gun!

Buuuh- I can't decide whether that looks amazing or all wrong...

Cool comparison

Volquartsen would charge $120 for that screw.

OOH-- Motard. Want.

The left one is RJF, the right is the Tromix Shark, which is more or less the original saiga breacher brake. They are similarly priced.
I want to know how they compare in recoil management/ barrel flip.

The stock looks good, but the stump left for the adapter is wierd. Pity that FireBird didn't make the cut point closer to the pistol grip an inch or two. I suppose there must not have been enough material there to support the adapter.
Being able to have a side folder is a big improvement over an actual AR action.

That looks a lot less like you are compensating for something with your compensator. Good job.
-
That looks much better to me.

Thanks guys.
All that done, and then the holes for the screws on the side wandered.
I corrected that, but what a beginner mistake...
I should have transfer punched and drilled in place.
I did almost all of the cuts with a sawzall, because that's what I have. The cuts stayed pretty true. I just did a couple laps with a grinder to smooth out the saw marks, and the thing was true to spec.

Things desperately needed:
- A proper vice.
- A belt sander for shaping.
- a drill press.
- a skill saw for cutting aluminum and sometimes wood.
- A job in a law firm to pay for all of that and then a place to keep it.
- A proper vice.

Use it until you have problems. If you never have problems, don't worry about it.
