  1. There were some early reports of the first models (Millenium) being a little bit unreliable. Taurus fixed the bugs and came out with the Millenium Pro and I've not come across any bad reviews. A .45 will be heavier, harder to conceal, more expensive to shoot, kick harder, and lower capacity but besides the negatives there's a lot to be said about the increased stopping power. Check to see if it's the Pro or not and if it's not do some searches on other boards to see what the main problems are with the regular Millenium and if they're problems you think you could easily live with.
  2. I guess... But that's also in a hypothetical newtonian universe which we don't live in. I would think A LOT of energy will be dissipated in the form of heat and sound instead of strictly a reactionary kinetic energy. Also, some of the reactionary kinetic energy will be absorbed within the gun itself as some will be spent moving the carrier back and other will be absorbed by the material itself, thus (I could be wrong) I doubt a shoulder absorbs anywhere near the energy that the bullet has. Shooting a slab of meat is different than body armor. One would have to look toward the physic

    New Saiga 20

Good call Dinzag...I imagine that's the issue more than anything I came up with. That's why you're a yoda and I'm a mere young luke. In time I hope to join your jedi rank.
  4. Thanks Sam! That answered about anything I could think of. I test drove a bunch of other vehicles today before I make my final decision and only the Honda CRV comes close to the Colorado. I know they're very different, but the CRV is a good medium between my current car (Infiniti G35 coupe) and the Colorado. It gets good mileage, has adequate hauling capacity, and is still fun to drive. It couldn't tow much of anything and there's a few other limitations (plywood won't fit), but it's a nice versatile SUV. I think it's gonna come down to what I want vs. what I need. The CRV is more
  5. And don't feel bad... While the AK may be designed for a 13yr old peon to work on with simple farm tools, it's still taken me for a loop a few times. While it is ingeniously simple and thus reliable, it can still cause a headache or two. When you get frustrated, set it down for 30 minutes and then come back and you'll find the solution if you're fresh.

    New Saiga 20

It's very surprising that it won't eject slugs, there's a few possibilities. 1) is it a new gun, or did you buy it used? 2) what's the barrel length? Chances are, it needs a good clean and lube. Unscrew the knob that selects gas setting and clean off the piston. Then brush the crap out of the gas tube. Then use some picks and find the three gas holes and scrape any gunk out of them. Chances are, if it's not cycling slugs the gas ports are extremely gunked up. If this is the case, you'll probably even have a tough time getting the gas selector knob out, it may take some work soa
  7. So I'm about to purchase a new vehicle and I'm 99% sure it'll be the '06 Chevy Colorado extended cab. I figure some of y'all forum members either have trucks or know more about them than I do since I've been in a sports coupe for all my driving life. I have a few questions that hopefully some of y'all can voice your opinions on. 1) How important is 4x4? 2) What is adequate towing capacity? 3) Is a manual transmission truck really that bad? 4) Black or red? I am not immediately planning on hardcore off-roading or towing much of anything, but I've learned that a truck is alway
  8. In terms of a .308 battle rifle, and try to be unbiased, would a FAL or a Saiga be preferred? Looking at accuracy, capacity, cost, weight, reliability, etc. If I went with a 20" model could I stretch it out to 300-400 yards with fairly small groups (assuming I'm a good shot)?
  9. I'm confused. I've got the bolt sitting in the grooves. But now when I pull the action back, the front of the bolt sticks to the chamber and comes out of the carrier..... You probably already know this, but I got stuck for a while trying to figure it out...you have to push the bolt carrier DOWN into the rear of the receiver for the bolt carrier to hop on its rails correctly.
  10. I love physics, I just wish I remembered it better. It's fun and I get to learn new stuff from y'all. But regardless, that's some diesel body armor. I want some! (not sure why, but it's just cool stuff to have)

  12. I'm whoring my baby out on Gunbroker now . Reserve is set at only $700 . http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=47411234
  13. I call bullshit... What stops a .458 magnum? Isn't that nearly the same muzzle energy as a BMG which penetrates 6" steel? And a .308 from 3' away? It would so knock you over. The energy of that bullet is much greater than a punch, and if I punched that dude while he was on one foot I think I'd tip him off balance.
  14. It's an interesting idea, might could work but it seems like it might be a bit of extra work though. I don't mean to be a nay-sayer, I'd love to see it in production, however I think it'd be simpler to splice to fives directly together. If you reinforce the frankenmag joints they're fairly strong and you don't have to do any fabrication of ridges on an external coupler whose tolerances would have to be fairly strict. Also, since the 5-round magazines are so strait a coupler might destroy the curve needed to ensure proper feeding unless it's curved as well, which makes fabrication that much
  15. That's true...the Saiga shotguns are the kalishnakov platform, but I need a true AK47. And it wouldn't hurt to have an AK74. And perhaps a dragunov. And while we're at it, I'd not mind a 308 kalishnakov either. It's funny, I only have one AR and have no desire for a second, but I would love to have about every configuration of AK available.
  16. Last I checked the world population was around 6billion...that means that 1 out of every 6 people ought have access to an AK. That's AWESOME! I need to join the ranks of Kalishnakov owners.
  17. It's probably best just to weld two 5-round magazines together. With some follower trimming and spring stretching you can fit 11rounds in this type of magazine. Problem with using a coupler are two fold: 1) the follower needs the raised guides to keep it level and feeding properly; 2) the rims of the shells may misalign within the coupler. Are 5-rounders still selling at ~$45? That's still a bit steeper than I'd like to go.
  18. Don't spend much time or money gambling. There's SO much to see and do in the city that you really need not waste time in casinos. Spend at least an entire afternoon/evening/night wandering about the strip looking at all the hotels. They're AMAZING. Each hotel usually has some kind of unique attraction too, so I'd suggest exploring each attraction. I went when I was 20 for 2 days and I didn't have time enough to do/see half of all I wanted to and I spent zero time in casinos since I was too young. Have fun, that's exciting!
  19. All work on it has been done by certified H&K armorer and gun is as follows: H&K USP45 Compact Stainless Steel (~$800) Meprolight Tritium Night Sights (~$120) Reduced trigger pull (~8lbs DA down from ~12, ~5lbs SA down from ~6) ($45) 3 Extra Magazines (two with extended fingerplate) (~$35ea) Galco Leather Small of Back Holster (flat black) (~$80) Galco Leather Outside Waste Band Holster (gloss black) (~$80) Galco Leather 2 magazine belt holder (gloss black) (~$45) HKS Speed-Loader (~$15) If I can figure out how to ship it I'll also include 250rnds remington ball ammo and ab
  20. No Problem You do have to move the FCG forward don't you?
  21. It's definately some of the better heavy metal I've yet encountered. If I were still a hardcore metal fan I'd be all about it. I listened to all of the clips and I have to say that the songs with less screaming and a bit more lyrics are more up my ally and will be received better by a larger population. To me it seems it's gonna come down to what demographic you want. But I'd hop on a cd for sure. Funny story that fits well in this post...I bounce at a bar around Chapel Hill North Carolina, which is basically a yuppy college town: a bunch of wealthy east coast kids that couldn't get
  22. I think he meant good. Sometimes fingers don't always do what the brain says. A dremel should work fine with the right cutter. Nevermind I should read farther back when I reply. Don't listen to me lol I here you, but I am the guy that the dremel always gets a little traction then... well you know. Besides, more tools is always good. I wonder how two 8 round mags grafted together would work????? Two 8 rounders should work fine. You can also do one 8 rounder and one 5 rounder, and you ought get about a 14 rnd magazine. But yea, it'd be cheaper to do 3 five round magazines
