  1. What would be a good starting point setting for a wire feed welder?
  2. I found this stock at E gun Parts. It mentions a top Tang. What is that? Would it be a problem? http://www.e-gunparts.com/DisplayAd.asp?ch...perSKU=&MC=
  3. I'm trying to finalize the list of things I want to add to my Saiga when I convert it. I first wanted to install the Tromix stock and use the weld on receiver plate. Now I'm leaning to a standard AK stock. All the standard AK stocks look like they install into the receiver with out a receiver block added. I don't see any that attach to the Tromix weld on receiver plate. Is there Standard AK butt stock that will attach to a Tromix weld on receiver plate? I don't want to weld on a receiver plate and then be limited to only certain types of stocks.
  4. What is the length of the 12rnd Surefire. How about the 10 rnd Surefire, Promag, and AGP. Do any of the manufacturers mags run longer or shorter than the others with the same capacity?
  5. Someone will inevitably tell you to do a search....but to give my opinion, the best stock is the 6 position AR type stocks because if a stage requires you to shorten the stock because of small confinements then you have that option. Tunnels have definitely been an advantage with my Saiga! Thanks. I know I could do a search, but I wanted to here recent opinions from shooters that shoot there saiga in competition. Seems new equipment is popping up daily. What AR type stock do you use and why? What is the shortest and longest dimension? What receiver end do you attach to stock? Can
  6. I'm picking parts for a conversion. The stock selection is challenging. I want to use the Saiga in competition 3 gun matches. The folding and skeleton stocks look good but I have serious reservations as to how effective they are for shooting. I don't see where a good cheek weld is obtained from any thing but a regular AK type stock. I guess in realistic terms I don't see ever shooting the gun with the stock folded in a match. What are your thoughts, thanks for the help!
  7. Thanks for the help. My understanding is that the Saiga can't be topped off, say using a full 10 round mag then putting 1 round in the chamber for a total of 11 rounds. If that is the case the 12 round mag loaded with 11 rounds would seem the only option. Is this correct? I have never handled a Saiga with any mag but the factory 5. I thought I would get 1 clear 12 round Surefire, then a 10 round and a 8 round. I thought that combo would get me through any stage. I'm a bit worried that the reported length of the 12 round mag might be a problem (awkward). I did plan on the Mag well for
  8. I have shot a few informal 2 and 3 gun matches and enjoy them. I recently bought a Saiga 12 and after the conversion I would like to use it in some matches. I know that USPSA sponsors matches and I thought I read that there were a few more sanctioning body's that do or, will be offering matches. I'm not sure about the magazine capacity limits that the different organizations rules allow. I also would like some advice as to what classes the Saiga falls into and how the gun should be configured to be legal. I plan on buying some magazines but don't want to buy mags that will be ill
  9. What size and make is the magazine?
  10. OK, I gotta know, What is wrong with using JB Weld to fill in small holes? Seems like the simple fix.

    R&R Gas block

I just received my Saiga 12 last week. I have been trying to get up to speed on the Saiga for a while now so I would be able to understand the Saiga when it arrived. Now that I have it I want to confirm that the Gas ports are open and are the correct diameter. I can't get a good look through the barrel at the gas ports, I have tried to look through the gas block but can't actually see the holes. I poked some thin wire through from the gas block. I believe I fished around and found 3 holes. I would like to remove the gas block and get a real look. and maybe clean it up a bit. How does
  12. I just bought a Saiga 12 from Centerfire. I registered with http://forums.gunboards.com/ for a discounted price. I paid $499 and $15 S&H. FAST delivery, GREAT service from Pam. Ask for her to get the sale price. NO extra fee for CC payment.
