  1. there is enough play in te bipod that I've never had any issues bumping full drums with mine, Slidefire on RPK imho would be a wast.... unless you were fireing from the shoulder I guess.

Thanks MT, if nothing else, it could be said I'll never own a boreing firearm LOL
  3. Agreed, you can put as much or as little in them as you want, and alot of it can be done over time... basic conversion to tapco Pistol Grip and Stock should run ya 250ish..... on the other hand, I have one I'm near to 2000+ in....... start with the conversion... its easy to do with very basic tools and will take no more than a few hours your first time
  4. well, at least you know where to get yours for the end of the world... it'll still be there by then
  5. Vepr has the heavy reciever and barrel, its built like a tank and for that one reason alone I think they make a build specific damn fine 47.... what I mean is... IF i were to build another AK atm, with the avalibility of the Veprs now, I'd build a dedicated Bumpski/slidefire rifle.... the 7.62x39s can be converted easily to take the high caps... with its beefier build its suited almost perfectly for this application.... but... thats just me
  6. PSLs getting hard to come by, make em up in standard configuration with the long barrels and sit on em for 18 months..... sell them on gunbroker and retire ETA: of all the places I once knew to get a full size, everyone but 1 guy is out..... as if to answer your question, all 4 places I've ever seen to buy a short barrel PSL.....still have them in stock, the math aint real hard to figger out... Couple that fact with a short barrel PSL is basicly a veprx54 and you start to see my point......unless you could undersell the Vepr's price point you'll play hell moveing em, but then again
  7. sadly... a little gun shop in moscow....

Jaymce, I didnt't have a set of taps handy, I see what your saying and you might be right, the Fal wood is on the origional Fal handguard held on only with screws that come thru from the backside and they seem to work well enough... to be honest I could probably STILL do that by iseing the existing holes I have now and a corse threaded screw that will hold tight...I had somehow envisioned it all lineing up perfectly with the preexisting holes on the guard ( lol right? ) that would eliminate the need to run the longer bolts which I was concerned with anyway.... I'll fiddle with it and come up w
  9. sounds to me like he needs to know how to pull the recoil spring out and allow for the bolt and carrier to be removed.......but I might be wrong if thats the case Boss, best i can do is tell you to youtube " CSS Saiga12 Conversion " and watch the video till what your looking for is shown...... should take ya about 3 minuts to find the vid and watch far enough to have a fair understanding of AK platform breakdown

To better explaine the part I had to cut off flush, I'm talking about the actual reciever end of the stock itself, the portion that goes into the metal box frame of the reciever, If you flip the stock around so that the metal buttplate is directly away from you, you should then be looking into the 1/2 hollow, at least thats how mine came. I started off with this area intact and made my trunion steps into it extending only slightly into the full woodstock portion... I had questions about how strong this would have been anyway as instead of a solid block of wood slideing in under the rear t

MrScratchy used the CSS tube guard on his, and was a bit concerned about the connection point not being reinforced... The Fugly has a MUCH better connection point brace, as well as being a heavier constructed overall piece, it'll last a lifetime or three... the issues I ran into with the Fugly is also why its not finished yet, the brace rail that runs along the bottom of the Fugly is right exactly where the holes need to be to attach the wood, I had to set the wood slabs in place, mark the screw placement with an awl, and drill holes for the bolts to run thru... holes need to drill thru not ju

  13. Maveric M88 12ga Bullpup, never actually seen one other than the one I owned... loved that 12 used to have alot of neat stuff... the one i miss the most was a little 9mm carbine, looked almost exactly like a tec9 with a side folding stock and a 16 inch barrel that unscrewed out the reciever, no MFG markings on it at all, seriel number was 003, no idea what it was but it was FAR above Tec9 quality... bought it at a gun show from another guy that got it in trade, neither one of us knew what it was, who made it, or anything much at all about it... I gave 250.00 for it cause that was the goin

Have gotten a question of the wood refinishing... will detail process... Interwebz search " Transtint Bright Red wood dye " order 2oz bottle Go to Lowe's get 1 quart Denatured Alcohol and Zeiss Bullseye Shellac ( clear dewaxed not the amber ) Add 1oz dye to denatured alcohol in glass mason jar and shake like mad... add 1 oz dye to shellac can... shake like mad mop alcohol/dye mix onto wood ( should dry almost instantly.... well, within 3 to 5 minuts or so ) add 2 coats of the alcohol/dye mix map on Shellac/dye mix ( should be tacky dry in 30 minuts which is enough for ano
  15. Yea, not to really get into it with folks but Samal for the most part wasen't really selling anything but rather acting as an overseer for a forum group buy with intent to reduce shipping costs on an item which if ordered direct 1 at a time would nearly double in price. The SMALL bit of profit he's made doing so would just ALMOST cover the cost of becomeing a buisness member for a whole month... never mind the fact that its taken him 4 months to make that small profit meaning he'd be down an easy 300 or 400 bucks had be become a buisness member at the start. He IS a contributor, and as

OK, Credit where Credit is due.... I STOLE the idea from Mr. Scratchy ( with his permission LOL ) I LOVED his S12.... and decided to replicate it at least in part.... this is how we ended up. Its not 100% yet, I need longer bolts for the bottom of the wood handguards, so, 4 more bolts to go... and I have a Molot Break comeing, but to be honest, i love the looks of this so much as is, I may not end up useing it ( on this gun ) It started out at 9am as a brand new IZ109 and a bunch of parts I'd pre collected, Had to strip the wood, fit it, and refinish it, while waiting on coats of s
  21. not overly fond of the AR platform nor the 556/223 round.... I'd be all in for a good 5.45 and spend the left over on about 6 crates of ammo while its easily gotten... I just can't make myself like the AR over a quality AK and haveing said that I own 3 ARs.... I know folks preach the ergos of the AR but with the Krebs safty, Ram double tab Mag release, Tromix chargeing knob, Veltor tube and Magpul stock.... the ergos of the AK get pretty damn nice. If i had to suggest one of the above 3, it would be the piston gun, but for that same money, I think you can build a hell of alot better
  22. really really fond of the Colt Gvt 380 in stainless for everyday carry with some good hollow points, I own 14 pistols... this is the only one I have no trouble carrying all day every day everywhere... its not the mustang, actual Gvt model, big enough to fill a hand, 7+1, small enough to hide NP... just a great all around little piece, and don't let anyone tell ya a 380 can't get the job done....
  23. not chrome lined to best of my knowledge, shouldn't be an issue if you clean it well each time, but for a beater/truck gun... i'd rather have an unconverted saiga than a tantal for this exact reason....though for 425, you could convert the saiga too...
  24. DIY PGs are as good or better than factory installed in 99.99% of the cases I'd wager... there are always exceptions to the rule, but most are made from metal 2 to 3x as thick...and the captive PG bolt retainer is as tight as mil spec pretty easily, only thing I'd worry about is if you swapped the PGs out every few days for a year or two eventually wearing the threads on the built in PG retaining nuts, not replaceable like they are on mil spec AKs so once the threads wear likely easier to swap out trigger guards than PG nuts.... you'd have to work hard at it for years though i'd bet to get one
